Didn't we do an "Opinion of every state" series not that long ago?

Yes, but it's already one year ago. Plus I prefer the star rating system over the monochrome FF/HS system.

If Schweitzer is the VP nominee, definitely yes.
Otherwise no.

The last time New York delivered more votes for the GOP than Texas was 1988.

The last time the Republicans didn't receive the most votes from California was 1960.
32  General Politics / Political Geography & Demographics / Puerto Rico on: May 03, 2015, 10:06:53 pm
Why has Puerto Rico's population been shrinking so fast and heavily?
In 2000, 3.8 million people lived there, in 2010 only 2.7 million, down to estimated 3.5 million in 2014. PR has been surpassed by 3 states in that time.

And how many electoral votes / congressional districts would it be allocated if it joined the Union today? Puerto Rico now has more inhabitants than Iowa (6 EV), but fewer than Connecticut (7 EV).

Obama received in the 2008 primary election in King County, TX, more than twice as many votes (27) as in both general elections (5+8) combined.

Comparing the quality of life both Vermont and the South, I would say that doing the opposite of whatever the South has been a resounding success for the people of the Great State of Vermont.

The final 2 Bremen polls for the state election next Sunday are out.

Average of the ARD/ZDF polls:

37.0% SPD (-1.5% compared with 2010 election)
22.5% CDU (+2.0)
15.5% Greens (-7.0%)
  8.5% Left (+3.0%)
  5.5% FDP (+3.0%)
  5.0% AfD (+5.0%)
  3.0% BiW (-0.5%)
  3.0% Others (-4.0%)

Sorry, I don't believe that poll. The FDP is way too strong and the AfD is way too weak.

I was hoping sanity had returned and solarstorm had been banned.  No such luck Sad

Do you think posting that comment was really necessary?

Not particularly likable, but first to grant unrestricted women's suffrage.
45  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / 2016 U.S. Presidential Election / Re: What are the odds that Hillary wins every county in the primary season? on: May 01, 2015, 01:58:34 pm
Pretty much impossible.

I think Obama had to lose a few counties in 2012 with less than token opposition.

Obama lost counties in 2012. The odds of this happening anytime are zero.

I don't say that Hillary will win every county, but the comparison between Obama '12 and Hillary '16 is a bit lame.
Obama is thoroughly despised by fellow Democrats (!) in the Greater Appalachia area, where he lost numerous counties.
Hillary doesn't arouse such any hatred among Democrats. Her only haters dwell on the Internet and, in particular, well, here on Atlas...

Zero:
Bernie will win the VT Caucuses

Vermont doesn't hold caucuses.
47  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Presidential Election Trends / Interview with former RSLC president about "Operation Red Map" on: May 01, 2015, 01:41:08 pm
I don't know if anyone has posted this informative video before, but it's such an instructive clip that it wouldn't be wrong to post it twice:

https://youtu.be/MiAq9sIvTJE

Rachel Maddow explains how the GOP successfully tried to take control of U.S. politics by investing millions of dollars in down-ballot races and thus implementing Republican-friendly gerrymandering.
As instances for 2010 she adduced the Republican take-over of Alabama for the first time since Reconstruction, the unexpected defeat of Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker and the Republican tsunami that swept across the Michigan House of Representatives.
That plan for controlling federal politics via conquering state legislatures is call "Operation Red Map" and was invented by the Republican State Leadership Committee.
Maddow was also conducting an interview with its former president, Chris Jankowski.

One statement of hers truly reminds me of Atlas:

"Anyone with good voting data and free rein to redraw the maps can redraw the maps to basically guarantee whether the person who will get elected from that district will be a Democrat or a Republican."  Smiley

I just wanted to wrote that someone had already posted that video a long time ago, but then I realized ...

Anyways.

Here's an interesting fun fact:
Obama received twice as many votes in the 2008 primary than in the 2008 and 2012 general elections together!

I'm starting a new series about your opinions of the 50 states + D.C.
Yes, I know there was already a similar series started by another user, but in this one will not use the monochrome FS/HS options, but the five-stars rating which I think is much more accurate. Plus, new users have been active after the finishing of the latest series.
And yes, I know that there will be the five, six suspicious user who say: "mods plz ban", why?", "creep", "plz go kill yourself", but I won't care. Smiley

5 stars are, of course, excellent, 1 star is horrible.
