Many of us know that Christopher Columbus first asked Portugal to support his idea of going West instead of around Africa... Now granted Portugal wasnt too interested in a West Route because Da Gamma just found out about an East Route to India... but lets say Portugal gave Chris the benifit of the doubt and let him disembarque on this voyage... It would cost ALOT compared to Spain, but what if the discovery of San Salvador was in the name of Portugal... Would it be Portugal vs England and Spain on the sidelines? Or would they have been peacefull? Would they punish the Indians and America wouldnt have to worry about Florida? or would Spain kill their pipe dream? Would we get to learn Portugese instead of Spanish? Discuss...
