Yesterday and today's actions by Romney's people suggest very strongly that he will lose South Carolina.  We shall see, of course.

At any rate, any Romney win will be viewed as extraordinary by the media, as will any Gingrich win of more than 10 points and over 40%.

If the exit polls are accurate, Gingrich will win, as his support has always been stronger among men.

Think they're gonna declare a winner at 7:00 PM, at least CNN suggests this, as King pointed out.  Which means a large win.

CNN is generally leery of calling things until results actually appear, as a rule.

Why are the ballot counters in Horry County so incompetent?

2012:

550.000 turnout (71% Republicans acc. to Exit Poll) -> ca. 390.000 Republicans turned out

2008:

450.000 turnout (80% Republicans acc. to Exit Poll) -> ca. 360.000 Republicans turned out

White Independents in SC are not particularly Democratic-friendly, something we tend to forget.

How do we know these Indies are white ? Could be Dem-leaning Independents this time who vote in the GOP primary to elect the Newt.

Are they black (lol)?  Not many Hispanics in SC.  Go look up white people who identified as Independents in 2008 and the exit polls.

When you think about the candidates, this map is so predictable.

Hilarious, surely?

I actually want your opinion, because there's both a class and an urban and rural dynamic going on here, but my real thought is - shouldn't we just concede the South that is not VA and FL, and Appalachia to Gingrich now.

As expected, Romney was consistently 3rd and 4th in pretty much every historical SC mill town that I remember.
