Basilton South goes to the Tories with an 8% swing, but then that is where the Tories probably are getting some of the biggest swings.

Basildon is in Essex- a strong Tory area.

The Tories have missed target 11. Not good for them.

Clegg is basically calling on the Tories to make him an offer.

Labour appears to have got 29% of the vote. That's better than most of the polls...

They had a big ad presence in my area.

Brown is basically saying that he's staying pending the outcome of Cameron-Clegg talks.

Question, is the Alliance MP basically a nonsectarian Unionist?

No. For a start, "nonsectarian Unionist" is an oxymoron.

I am not sure, but Thatcher did adamantly oppose Scottish devolution, and perhaps that was the deal breaker.

Scotland was also used as the testing ground for the poll tax.

One of my favourite results... in Hertford & Stortford, Mr David Barnes, "Independent English Delegate", got 0 votes. Don't think I've ever seen a zero return in a general election before.

I think that's a genuine first- the Vote For Yourself Rainbow Dream Ticket candidate got one vote in Cardiff North in 2005.
