There's literally only one TikTok account I like which I view occasionally (on desktop because I'm not putting that crap on my phone) because she's really vocal about being progressive and loving Jesus Christ: https://www.tiktok.com/@cheekymisfitt

And even she has some cringe Gen Z moments at times.

I do agree with speech concerns but at the same time China not only does this with social media but video game companies as well. Its both for censorship but also for protectionism. We should really be focusing on the latter part.

A libertarian who supports protectionism?

No I just hate the fact that American tech companies have been doing the best and both the EU/China restrict them from competition in their sectors while we have to allow their stuff freely here(Spotify/TikTok). Free trade with Europe would be 100% ideal although more arguable when it comes to China.
Spotify is effectively ran out of the US mostly now, at least it's North American operations are. Even the parent company of all those subsidiaries isn't incorporated in Sweden but some tax haven country. Which is a problem of its own but one that applies to a lot of nominally American companies too.

Imagine if the Nazi Party had the ability to beam Nazi propaganda fliers directly into the eyes of American children, and the youth of America then were mostly basically addicted to the Nazi propaganda. That's the situation we have today.

Tik tok shows you what you interact with. If you’re get CCP propaganda that means you are engaging with it. All my tik tok is is mostly food, animals, Reddit ai readings, and gay memes
Except they algorithmize it so CCP-backed content gets more common. And let's not forget things like banning that girl who made a video disguised as a makeup tutorial to bring attention to the Uyghur genocide.

"Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk are shady and untrustworthy individuals" is not exactly an argument for "The Chinese Communist Party is reliable and can be trusted fine"

Nobody said they are or can be trusted. The CCP does have an interest in letting Americans criticize the worst aspects of American life. Just because they provide the platform for this, doesn't mean the messages people are sharing are not valid.
And they don't allow criticism of any of the Chinese actions on that platform: https://www.vox.com/recode/2019/11/27/20985795/tiktok-censorship-china-uighur-bytedance

ho hooo man.  I was expecting this link to be to some dumb s--t, but I was expecting, like, The Intercept or something.

I was not expecting World Socialist Web Site -- online newspaper of the international Trotskyist movement.

https://newpol.org/on-gutter-journalism-and-purported-anti-imperialism/

Quote from: NewPolitics
One example of pro-Putin, pro-Assad “left-wing” propaganda combined with gutter journalism is the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS), run by a “Trotskyist” cult led by a political sicko named David North, which perpetuates a long worn-out tradition of inter-Trotskyist sectarian quarrels in fulfilling its role as apologist for Putin, Assad, and their friends. Another example is Grayzone, a website founded by a particularly versatile character named Max Blumenthal.

These websites have in common the habit of demonizing all left-wing critics of Putin and the likes of Assad by describing them as “agents of imperialism” or some equivalent. The main “target market” assigned to them is naturally the left-wing readership. This implies that they must strive not only to convince their readers of the virtues of Moscow and its clients by a resort to fake “left-wing” and “anti-imperialist” arguments, but also and most importantly to discredit their left-wing critics. In doing so, they resort to the oldest trick of the slandering profession: outright lies.

where the hell you gettin your information man
Not only that, but they were opposed to Cuomo resigning, lol: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2021/08/05/pers-a05.html

The thing I hate most about TikTok is it's directly responsible for YouTube creating that "shorts" feature which is an obvious answer to it...and it sucks so much. Prior to it if people wanted to make a less than a minute video on YouTube they would just...upload a video less than a minute long. Now with that stupid short thing you get videos where you can't move to different time stamps in it, you can't embed them here, they don't play on my TV and they're inferior in every way. It's a pretty bizarre feature, putting out a new feature that's the same as what the product already offers but just worse...but it's obviously there because of TikTok.

Joe Biden unalived Tiktok, to use Tiktok slang.
I hope the term "unalive" gets unalived along with Tiktok.
It's more of a YouTube thing, and it's to avoid demonization by YouTube.
