This was floated last year also, and also failed spectacularly. Basically more of Boogie's pandering.
Bibi's pulled the program. Probably not out of genuine tolerance, however; Israel may be kicked out of FIFA soon for their system of apartheid, and launching something so explicitly oppressive and racist as segregated buses at this time (when the FIFA commissioner is visiting the country) won't bode well for their soccer team.
Pretty sure Bibi doesn't care about FIFA. If he cares about anything, he knows that it would take just one member of his coalition with a shred of decency to bring the whole thing down. His right flank doesn't quite pose the same threat.

I agree though, it isn't about tolerance.

I don't think it's so much that Bibi cares about being involved in international soccer, more that he wants to avoid being suspended - it seems trivial, but it's something FIFA has only done for Yugoslavia and apartheid South Africa before, and that's not a club Bibi seems eager to join.

There were much easier ways to avoid being suspended- giving the Palestinian soccer team what they asked for, freedom of movement for the players, etc. Bibi's smart enough to know this. He's also smart enough that FIFAGate wouldn't bring down his government. This probably could.

Anyone think Ya'alon is trying to get hardline support for a possible leadership run? He's old but I've heard rumors...

Or he is simply an asshole, as our Republican friend here suggested Smiley

He may, though.
I think the adjective used was a little... mild perhaps?
