Wendy Davis, the savior of the Texas Democratic Party, bullsh*t

Did anyone ever actually think this? Most people knew from the start there's no way Davis could win. Her purpose was to motivate the Democratic base in the state for future endeavors as opposed to throwing up a some dude and laying down and dying.

After she made the filibuster, liberal blogs were getting fired up about a blue texas, and MSNBC had a crush on her.

Well, I'm sure some liberal blogs actually thought Davis could win, and they were obviously dumbs. But the overwhelming sentiment I saw during the Wendy Davis saga was to have her run to enthuse the base and start turning the Texas Democrats into a legitimate opposition as opposed to a rotting corpse where candidates like Kesha Rogers actually win nominations.
