wait wait wait wait......wait......
water....like the kind that comes out of those magic metal things in the bathroom and kitchen.....is private in the UK and not in Omaha? Mind.Blown.
do you have, like choices? How could that possible work? Who "owns" the pipes under the street? the "private" company? how the hell does that work? water, because of the infrastructure required, is one of the few things where it makes some sense to be publicly owned. Possibly more than anything else?
(ftr, I'm a little funked up and have been driving all day (much of it in the dark or driving into the sun), so my brain might not be operating at 100%)
no choices; private company for each region (fails to) run the infrastructure and sells water to people. It doesn't work (shockingly!) yet Thatcher decided to privatise a natural monopoly for... some reason - shows how dedicated she was to selling off important state assets for peanuts really.
Its state owned in Scotland - indeed we don't have water charges and its a flat rate for everyone which I think is the right thing to do.
