It's probably not entirely unironic except for any of us except beep boop. However, socialism is ultimately a rejection of individual liberty, which is unacceptable. One can believe in a safety net while rejecting socialism as an unacceptable ideology.

It's hard to tell whether this sign is pro or anti-Obamacare.

Total HP.

Side note - if we're going to be politically accurate, she's a run-of-the-mill social democrat, not a true "socialist". Either way, way too far left for me.
Wow, you're actually one of the few conservatives (matter of fact - people) that knows the difference.

If someone proudly calls themselves socialist, but does not explicitly campaign on doctrinaire socialist policy positions, they are either doing it because they believe in a Fabian-esque gradualist path to socialism (not that the modern Fabians are particularly socialist themselves), or they are an idiot who doesn't even know what socialism means. There is little difference between social democracy and socialism for practical purposes for the likes of Ocasio or Sanders.

The Democratic Party doesn't even have the socialist history of European social democratic parties, so there really is no excuse for one to call themselves a socialist unless they are one.

I just think it's important to correctly identify your political adversaries. Too often, I think, conservatives paint left-wingers with the "You must love Venezuela/Communism/Mao" brush rather than actually engaging in sound arguments against their policies (which can be done).

Bernie honeymooned in the Soviet Union. He has defended the Castros and Cuba.

A "federal jobs guarantee" and broadly characterizing capital markets activities as "gambling" are far more in line with socialism than social democracy. Most of her other positions are not economic-related or are simply meaningless. As I said before, many socialists believe in a gradualist approach to socialism, rather than a revolutionary one, (Bernie, despite his constant talk of "revolution", basically supports a gradual road to socialism) and they publicly advocate for policies somewhere between the status quo and their true socialist ideological beliefs.

Someone who overstayed her 15 minutes of fame by thinking the country cares way more about her than they actually do and doesn’t seem to understand the importance of working with other people in the conference.
