Should I stop starting threads about mathematical problems?
A user (whose name begins with an o s) reported such a thread. So I'd better ask...

Oakvale hating your threads is a badge of honor.

Okay, I didn't know that. But imho it is not a nice way to report proper posts just because you don't like them...

Guys, I actually did not report any thread by excelsus. I don't have a problem with him. My post in his "i" thread was a joke.

Basically the only things I report (believe it or not) are NYE spam in the wrong boards and posts that are genuinely vile (Obamanation's "filthy sluts" thing etc.).

A short while ago I was looking at my profile and it said ... 1 post reported. I almost had a coronary.
Immediately afterwards I was looking at his thread and I read your post.
As a consequence I thought you were the snitch.
In case I'm wrong I'll apologize to you.

I'm sorry, Max. Please report any future attempts at humour which you find upsetting and I'm sure the appropriate action will be taken.

You're British?

Oakvale hasn't actually reported anything that he has claimed to, and I figured it was obvious to most people that he was joking anyway.

Okay, herewith I officially apologize to oakvale.

I have thoroughly enjoyed your math threads. Especially because of the interesting responses from angus and muon. Reminds me of other forums where people would argue about .999... = 1 for thirty pages. I am a masochist I suppose.

Thank you.

Don't stop, but don't lock them either. Just because there's an answer given doesn't mean there isn't discussion worth having. Much of mathematical research and learning begins by discussing an already solved problem and seeing what other questions arise.

That was not the reason why I closed that thread...
But I have already unlocked it.
