I suppose this question in some level is unfair to the right. Typically rightists do think the social net should exist, just that it is provided by churches, religious organisations and philanprophy, rather than a mandatory contribution provided for by a government (or other such entity with the power to distribute capital). I don't consider outright Randians an idealogy or even part of the right in general (gee I dislike the right-wing in general, but I'm not outright mean enough to associate them with that monstrous idealogy)

And yes, I think that a strong social net is outright needed in accordance with my strong ethical belief that inequality is an immoral state of being. I tend to reject the idea that such a net should be dependent on the whims of the rich a la charity or reliant on the quasi-governments of religious organisations.
