I mean, the main trouble with it, is it that the phrase should have a "mis-" prefix before "appropriation". That would clarify some of the dumber aspects of the whole malarkey.

In a world where Trump's thug crews are planning to round up immigrants en masse, it seems borderline offensive to give a crap about college kids in sombreros of whatever.

     People caring about this kind of thing are sending a clear message that they have no actual problems to worry about, and therefore are getting worked up into a lather over things that are at worst inconsiderate and mildly offensive.

Tbf this is not a problem unique to the Left unless i imagined all those furious reactions to a football player not joining in the flag worship ceremony, angry denunciations of sixteen year olds making up new pronouns on Tumblr and the furious rage at Starbucks for making non denominational Christmas coffee cups. People are obsessed with trivialities.
