Everyone blaming "disinfo" and Tik Tok is off their rocker.  The Israel-Palestine discourse is so evergreen because it maps neatly onto left-wing narratives about imperialism, racism, "settler" colonialism, etc., etc.  These have been big debates in Western democracies for decades, not anything the youth have recently invented.

Israel though is an example of an anti colonial movement being widely successful. It’s actually the Arab states at the time who tried to colonize that land and Zionists successfully were able to fight back and establish the state of Israel despite the efforts of their neighbors

Apparently, as of Wednesday, CNN online (website? youtube?) traffic for the USA Israel-Gaza college stuff is 10 to 15 times more than traffic for the story they surprisingly did about mass graves in Gaza.

Yeah. The thing is I agree with GMac on like 98% of this issue. I think this is a huge waste of time, I think that antisemitism is indeed present amongst groups active in this discourse, and Jewish students should not be subjected to that. There are legitimate things to complain about the Israeli government and their approach in Gaza, but this is probably not the best way to do it. To the extent that the videos in this post are even an accurate reflection of this person, they are very dangerously misguided.
However, I do not support mass detentions, expulsions and bannings of random non-violent protestors which we are now seeing happen at multiple schools, which GMac happily endorsed. There are very real concerns with academic freedom and free speech, and that is what a lot of the right wing alarmism about this is really rooted in.
Right wingers Christopher Rufo and Bill Alckman used Gaza protests as an excuse to "scalp" the Harvard president and conduct attacks on education in general. That's what this post is a part of. Guy Benson? Give me a f**ing break. GMac gets no benefit of the doubt here - he is clearly using this as a way to sound off on people he hates as evidenced by his "CHAZ and weed smokers" comment.

The Harvard president justifiably was fired

Quote
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Wednesday confirmed that foreign students could potentially face deportation if they are suspended from their courses while on a student visa — just as anti-Israel protests have engulfed Columbia University and other American colleges.

Anyways, the solidarity is great to see. This movement transcends class, race, culture, religion and so much more. While we all know this will end (with the cops violently dispersing people, hopefully no one dies) the dam has clearly broken in regards to Israel.

The same way the dam broke on defund the police . Loud protests don’t mean a single thing and blm proved it

What a stupid overreaction. I can't believe these authoritarian crackdowns are forcing me to side with the clowns on the US pro-Palestinian movement.

The governor should call in the national guard

Because that worked out so well in Ohio.

That’s not the only example . It worked out great in California for example

Speaking for my myself, not only would I be proud of my son/daughter for not only being able to get into Columbia, but I'd be even more proud that he/she was standing up for their oppressed brothers and sisters in Ghazzah as any Muslim should.

That would be the sign that I've raised them right by not only having academic excellence, but also a strong deen. Inshallah, his/her efforts, while not being rewarded in this world, and in this society, shall be rewarded where it truly matters. In the akhirah.

I appreciate that, given that none of the people who recommended this post are Muslim, almost all of them probably recommended it despite not knowing what the words "deen" (literally just judgement, no reason this couldn't have been said in English) and "akirah" (heaven) meant. AFE could have put will to futuh (conquest) and houri (virgin reward for warriors) instead and they wouldn't have blinked an eye.

I too love baselessly calling our Muslim posters terrorists

He did not say this at all and it’s actually lying to say that he’s saying it . He said that some posters are so anti Israel they would endorse pretty much any rhetoric towards them even if they didn’t understand it and given that some leftists have literally gone along with that rhetoric (cheering people who use slogans such as “from River to the sea” , defend people who use the term intifada etc) it’s why he made his post .

So stop being purposely misleading and putting words in other people’s mouth

A hilarious clip, in which one of the leaders demands that Columbia bring them food and water (while they illegally occupy campus buildings) for “humanitarian” reasons. At the root of it all is sort of a narcissistic jealousy that the Palestinians get to experience the excitement of hardship and oppression while they have to live their peaceful, wealthy, boring lives here in America.

Seems far more likely that Columbia and NYPD are trying to starve them out, rather than this picture you're trying to paint of 'Entitled protesting kids want delivery, too!' Since the moment they leave to get supplies I doubt they'd be allowed to continue the protest.

Same tactics as always to suppress the people and speech. Hopefully they can figure out a way to get supplies in.

Yes they will get arrested if they leave the building because they are in violation of the law . That’s how things work

Exclusive: House Republicans Introduce Legislation To Send Hamas-Sympathizing Student Visa Holders Home

Quote
Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles introduced legislation Wednesday to send Hamas-sympathizing student visa holders home and told Hamas-Sympathizing student visa holders to “go study abroad in Gaza.”

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the legislation, which is titled the Study Abroad Act. The bill would specifically “revoke the F, J, or M visa” of any illegal immigrant who authorities have “arrested for rioting or unlawful protest,” or who authorities have “arrested while establishing, participating in, or promoting an encampment” at an institute of higher education.

“The ability to receive higher education in the United States is truly a privilege. Previously known for their prestige and unparalleled academics, many elite American universities have damaged their hard-earned reputations by opening their doors to impressionable terrorist sympathizers. In the last several weeks, our nation has seen these institutions overrun and terrorized by young people calling for a third intifada,” Ogles told the Caller before introducing the bill.

How remarkably stupid do you have to be as an international student to join these protests? And some are even ILLEGAL immigrants, wtf. You are a guest in the country, be happy to be there as so many would love such an opportunity but aren't as priviledged.

You actually don’t need a new law for this as current law makes it illegal for people who are on visa to advocate for terrorist groups and specifically pro Palestinian ones .

Biden is simply not enforcing the law

The material support laws are overly broad (deliberately so) and unconstitutional from any reasonable perspective.

Not according to the Supreme Court

Hillary Clinton shows leadership on this issue and shows why she would’ve been a great President. Such a strong condemnation of these protestors indicates to me that maybe this country needs another bid by her.

Only Hillary could've lost to Trump. And if she runs again she will lose again. Her time has passed the she sucked.

Because she ran away from Bill Clinton’s legacy in 2016 and didn’t listen to his advice .

That is certainly part of it. She also let Trump outflank her on FP and trade, made moronic visits to Texas and focused way too much on being open borders. Worst operated presidential campaign of my lifetime and it isn't remotely close. There's a reason Robby Mook has never been heard from again.

Fundamentally while Obama was popular and his favorables were higher than Bill Clinton’s , Bill Clinton’s legacy was more popular.

There is simply a reason why every democrat who tried to run on Obamaism without Obama lost and Hillary made a huge mistake running on that rather than her husband’s legacy . She even had an easy response to Trump’s MAGA slogan which was “Most Americans think we peaked in the 1990s when my husband was president”

Your point is ridiculous.  These demonstrators are, at a minimum, allies of Hamas, if not actual Hamas members.  They are sending a message to America:  "Hamas is HERE!".  "Intifada is HERE!".  It's posing, and it's posing to deliberately inspire fear.

Without commenting on the larger argument here the idea that college students in the US are "Hamas members" is really, really absurd.

Yeah I disagree with that . Saying though they are useful idiots for Islamists is completely correct though
