You see them about in the UK - although I only see maybe 15-20 or so houses with them in my constituency on people's homes at election time, including posters in people's front windows (albeit I live in a very safe constituency - Newbury). They're quite common in rural parts of my constituency in fields, especially along main roads - although it's hard to say if that's the view of the person that owns the field or just that people who support the party have placed it there without the owner knowing. A surprising proportion of them are Labour; surprising considering that they struggle to get into double digit percentages here.
I've heard some people say that they've put them up just to stop candidates from other parties knocking on their doors during the election period, rather than to advertise their political views to the wider world.
