That's happening more than usual in Japan. I think there's even a word for it in Japanese that doesn't exist in English, Spanish or German.

With that being said, I think 40 hours is already more than enough. At least no one should work be required to work more to make end's meat (which doesn't apply to bankers, but still...).

過労死 (かろうし/karoushi) is the word.
