for my own faith life God=Jesus, but I wouldn't assume anyone of a different faith would mean the same thing - they are talking about their own understanding of loving who God is. the one way it could be true is if they are truly loving god, I could consider they are loving Jesus without knowing it because they are living in the love of God who is also Jesus

how did you manage to get that exactly backwards?

Luke 10:16  "he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

John 13:12 "whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me"

God has simply placed all focus on Jesus Christ, so whoever wants to accept God must accept Jesus Christ.  It's just that plain and simple.

Teddy, Muslims are not worshiping Muhammad as any kind of God or Godlike figure. They are strictly, very strictly monotheistic.

I understand the monotheistic issues with the "three persons" language within some creeds used by some sects of Christianity.  But there are absolutely no monotheistic issues with the language of the New Testament, for monotheism itself does not preclude God appearing in the flesh.

I understand some Islamist groups often refer to Christians as "polytheists" as a derogatory term (due to the Trinity.) When some Egyptian group issued a message threatening to attack something like "temples of polytheism" this was instantly assumed to mean Coptic churches.

well, the perceived polytheism is totally the fault of creedist Christians attempting to parse and compartmentalize God
