With the support of Adolphe Thiers, Élie Decazes, Talleyrand, and Alexandre Walewski, Napoléon II escapes from what is essentially house arrest. With the assistance of Louis-Philippe as well, Napoléon II is proclaimed “Emperor of the French,” and Alexandre Walewski is named as first in line to the throne. Louis-Philippe is named Prime Minister.
