It’s important to note there’s not really a political divide between the cultural elite evangelicals and their poorer neighbors.

Yankee, absolutely agreed that a divide could feasibly form. The poor and part of the middle class is overwhelmingly different among the under 20s, particularly with regard to SSM, whereas the upper crust’s children are so overwhelmingly religiously (politically) conservative in mindset it would probably shock some of the Northern Yankees.
