House of Cards' Twitter account brilliantly trolls Theresa May over TV debate

Theresa May was accused by her rivals of “running away” from the debate as she sent Home Secretary Amber Rudd to appear in her place. But she was also trolled by a less likely culprit: the official Twitter account of Netflix’s hit US political drama House of Cards. The account posted: “@theresa_may They respect you more when you show strength. Or show up”, along with a GIF of star Kevin Spacey walking into the US Senate.

From landslide win to upset defeat: Scenarios for PM Theresa May in the British election

Theresa May 'refuses to take part in local and regional interviews'

Theresa May has reportedly refused to take part in a series of local radio interviews in the run up to the general election. The prime minister is also said to have cancelled interviews with regional political editors at the BBC.

“Jeremy Corbyn and the leaders of Green, LD and UKIP have all responded to BBC interview requests for the Local Radio network – as well as interviews with regional TV political editors,” the email reads.  “Today, I learn that Mrs May’s team have confirmed she won’t be doing the same. No Local Radio interviews (not even a pooled one for the network), no regional political editors interviews and no interview for the All England Show (a networked evening programme across the LR stations)."

The Ipsos poll has no breakup, age wise, area wise, gender wise & it is very difficult to say if it is credible. But this poll doesn't look good for May, if you look at the details -

For Undecided/Refused to answer - Which party are you inclined to support?

Conservative 40%, Labour 43%, Liberal Democrats (Lib Dem) 9%

                           Satisfied           Dissatisfied            Don’t know          Net
Government            38                      53                         8                  -15

Have you definitely decided to vote for the ………. party or is there a chance you may change your
mind before you vote?

Party              Definitely decided (%)             May change mind (%)             Don’t know (%)
Tory(June)                   75                                           23                                      2
Tory (April)                  78                                           21

Party              Definitely decided (%)             May change mind (%)             Don’t know (%)
Labour (June)                  76                                           21                                      3
Labour (April)                  56                                           43                                      1

Party              Definitely decided (%)             May change mind (%)             Don’t know (%)
Lib-dem (June)                  46                                           48                                      6
Lib-dem (April)                  40                                           60                                      0

Can you imagine Labour voters are more sure of voting for their party than Tories after all the civil war in Labour & so-called unity in Tories. And Lib-Dem has very delicate support with almost half of it could go anywhere. Given the huge share of Lib-Dem voters going to Labour & the convergence of manifesto, I think Labour will take more out of it (even Tories will get a lot of Lib-Dem voters). Why waste votes on Lib-Dem ?

Most capable PM?

              April          May           June
May -        61            56              50
Corbyn -    23            29              35

Past elections data -

Most capable PM (May 2015) -

Cameron - 42%
Mllibrand - 27%

Most capable PM (May 2010) -

Cameron - 33%
Brown - 29%

May's favorability -7%, Corbyn -11%

PM accused of 'subservience' to Trump over climate move

Mr Corbyn criticised Mrs May for not signing a joint condemnation from France, Germany and Italy.
In a statement, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italy's Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni warned the US president that the Paris Agreement could not be renegotiated. They said they remained committed to the "irreversible" accord and regarded it as "a cornerstone in the co-operation between our countries, for effectively and timely tackling climate change".

At an election campaign event in York, he said: "Given the chance to present a united front from our international partners she [Mrs May] has instead opted for silence and once again subservience to Donald Trump."It's a dereliction of both her duty to this country and our duty to our planet. "This is not the type of leadership Britain needs either to negotiate Brexit or stand up to defend our planet in an era of climate change."

It does, but it's in a difficult format; it requested WinRAR when I tried to open it.

Ipsos-MORI (well, it was just the latter until a few years ago when it merged with Ipsos) is, btw, the oldest player in town when it comes to British polling.

Can you type the age, gender, area wise voting for different parties etc break-up when you get some time as well as the Voting % considered for Young people, so that we can see if there are some shifts happening !

Conservative           308
Labour                   261
Liberal Democrats    10
UKIP                             0
Green                     1
SNP                            47
Plaid Cymru             2

Labour + SNP + Plaid + Green = 311 Seats vs Tories 308 seats. Lab coalition becomes 321 (5 short) or Tory coalition becomes 318 (8 short) ! Corbyn is the likely PM with a grand coalition (potentially unstable - Don't see lasting 5 years) !

I don't buy the seat projection. I guess the young vote turnout on election day will determine it !

BTW that nuclear question was so dumb. Iran doesn't have one & has never bombed or invaded/1st attacked a Western country in possibly centuries. They shirk direct confrontation & rather engage in proxy stuff. Even in Iran vs Iraq, Saddam gassed Iran, but Iran didn't retaliate with chemical weapons. North Korea can't get a ballistic missile right, it goes & falls into the ocean after a few miles, why are people hyping North Korea? They don't even have proper nukes, some crude bombs. And they haven't even attacked South Korea or Japan. It is ridiculous to think North Korea will fly a nuke half way around the globe through the Pacific & Americas or through entire Asia & Europe to reach Britain?

If you are attacked by a nuke, you have already failed, millions are dead, maimed with diseases spreading to children, large parts of Britain will be wiped off. And North Korea & Iran or whichever country does that will be wiped off the face of the earth by not just Britain but also NATO & they could do that even without Nukes.

This lust for barbarism is ridiculous. People should be talking about how to achieve a de-nuclearized world in the long term, how to promote peace & resolve conflicts not blow up half the world. It doesn't take any intelligence, courage, hard-work or diplomacy to do that. Any1 can easily say, Hey I can cause severe devastation & kill millions.

Even if Iran and DPRK do obtain nuclear weapons, the issue is that it increases the likelihood of more proliferation due to a nuclear arms race in the region, which in turn increases the likelihood of use.

Also, possessing nuclear weapons doesn't mean you will use them, but it does put you at a strategic advantage over non-nuclear powers, and increases your pay-offs in the likelihood of invasion of neighbouring countries, therefore increasing the likelihood of expansionist agendas. basic game theory.

The issue is not no nuclear weapons for me, as this just advantages those who do inevitably produce them again. The issue is restricting nuclear powers to countries with responsible, executive governments and no insane casus bellis on neighbouring countries. Already the U.S check and balances for nuclear armament is insanely low. Why Pakistan-India, Israel-Iran-Saud, DPRK-ROK etc should have nuclear weapons is beyond me. The French automatic system is the best.

Other than that, I agree with all your points. Its a silly, warmongering question. I don't understand why it has been revived as an issue in UK politics. Maybe to associate Corbyn with Michael Foot.

I don't disagree with most of you. But who decides who will have nuclear weapons? In an arbitrary manner, the 5 Security Council members for it & shut the doors for everyone else. Then US shares it with NATO allies in Europe covering many more countries from Germany to Netherlands & so on. Then you Israel with a secret Nuclear weapons program.

No1 will accept the leadership of any1 & no1 will accept 4 or 5 countries as custodians of the world (especially US or UK which has bombed the sh*t out of places, caused coups). UK has colonized half the world & butchered people to maintain it. Even in the 60's, UK & US overthrew & got a secular democratic President in Mossadegh killed only because their oil interests were threatened. By that logic, US & UK should have literally no right to have nuclear weapons.

The full issue here is a deterrent which I fully understand, it gives a strategic advantage & a potential threat, although chances of usage are none. The goal has to be 0 Nuclear weapons in the next few decades, that was what everything was about to slowly cut down on the number of weapons (through joint deals) & create a non-nuclear world with some UN body inspection !

Jeremy Corbyn calls for Theresa May to resign as Prime Minister for presiding over police cuts while Home Secretary

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-corbyn-theresa-may-resign-prime-minister-police-cuts-london-terror-attack-election-2017-a7773286.html

Theresa May's police cuts have returned to haunt her

On 20 May 2015, as Police Federation members warned Theresa May of the effects of cuts, the future PM defiantly told the body to stop "scaremongering" and "crying wolf". After the UK's third terrorist attack in three months, May's words are under greater scrutiny than ever before. Peter Kirkham, a former Met chief inspector, warned that the service was in "crisis" and accused May of being "criminally negligent with the safety of the public".

What is the big deal about this? You can give a speech anywhere. How can you even blame him if people who attend his rallies are former terrorist or not? No1 can control who attends his rallies.

If this was the guideline, every single politician will be a paedophile, rapist, molester considering the people who attend their rallies do some shi* or the other.

If there is some proof of Corbyn colluding with terrorists in something bad, then make an issue. Otherwise, this is a ridiculous campaign !

Majority of British voters agree with Corbyn's claim UK foreign policy increases risk of terrorism

An overwhelming majority of people agree with Jeremy Corbyn that British involvement in foreign wars has put the public at greater risk of terrorism, according to a new poll. The exclusive ORB survey for The Independent found 75 per cent of people believe interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya have made atrocities on UK soil more likely.

Within that, some 68 per cent of Tory voters agreed foreign wars have enhanced the risks of terrorism at home. So did 80 per cent of Labour supporters and 79 per cent of people that voted for the Liberal Democrats in 2015.

Theresa May Vows To Tear Up Human Rights Laws To Tackle Islamist Terrorism

I am predicting Tories losing 5-10 seats overall with a +- range of 20-25 seats here n there. Labour to get 20 more seats (& cross 36/37% with SNP, Lib-Dems, etc losing seats !)
