This could well be the reason why he won't win Florida:

Seniors still out of Obama’s reach

By BYRON TAU | 11/4/12 7:08 AM EST

Democrats hoped President Barack Obama would make inroads with seniors this year. And with Mitt Romney’s selection of Medicare change proponent Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate, they were confident they’d succeed.

But for all the ups and downs among other voter groups, voters 65 and older have remained basically unchanged: They’ve leaned heavily toward Romney throughout the campaign. And that’s been a constant drag on the president’s numbers in senior-heavy states like Florida, Ohio, Iowa, and Pennsylvania.

That may not be enough to tip the election to Romney — most polls show Obama with a slight but stable edge in many battleground states. But unlike core Obama demographics like young voters and recent immigrants, seniors are reliable likely voters.

And for the most part, they just don’t seem willing to give Obama a chance — despite their distrust of Ryan’s budget and Medicare reforms. They’re more conservative and more Republican than the seniors a generation ago, whose political identities were formed decades ago.

I guess in 2016 quite a lot of this current set will be gone.. what's the trend in the near-decrepit?

The next generation of seniors after the Eisenhower generation are gone would be the highly acclaimed Baby Boomers (Tory, Grumps, and Clarence -I'm looking at you).  And aren't they a closely divided bunch?
