When I signed this into law as President, I was thrilled to take this step towards holding ourselves accountable for what we are doing to the environment. That being said, one of my main concerns with this was how much of the revenues are going towards green checks. While I understand the purpose behind it, I feel that we need to be smarter with the revenues generated. People will still receive green checks, but a smaller amount, with some of those funds going towards federal grants and deficit reduction.

I am tempted to suggest you route 30% to NOAA instead, which very much needs more funding (including the NWS), who are a key part of determining the extent of climate change and providing weather updates in a timely manner nationwide, especially in times of severe/winter weather.

I'd be open to compromise on an amendment for this.

We could go 15/15 or something like that

I'm not in a position to draft that amendment to my amendment, but I can work with that.

Edit: Clarifying that I'm not in a position because I'm not at my laptop, and doing it on mobile is a pain.

Mr. Speaker, should we table this bill for now?

Why would we table it?

I'd like to hear a legitimate reason why this should be tabled from the Representatives motioning to table this.

Nay.

And if for some reason this is tabled, I will absolutely reintroduce this immediately and demand an explanation for why this was tabled in the first place, especially by Representatives who can't be bothered to do their jobs and actually offer debate on the bill. Stop being lazy.

Because nothing has been done with this bill as of recent.

Anyways, Aye

If you bothered doing your job and reading the thread, yes, it has. And amendment was offered yesterday that I deemed friendly.

I don't support reducing the amount of money people receive in their "green checks".
This changed from a tax just for the sake of taxing to a tax that goes towards things that actually help the environment.  People still receive green checks, and they still receive subsidies for investing in renewable energy thanks to the funding from this bill. This just allows some of the revenues generated to actually make the Carbon tax worth it.

If you truly cared about the environment, and our economy, you wouldn't be trying to kill this.

All silly shenanigans being done and over with, if no one else has any questions/concerns, I'll go ahead and motion for a final vote.
