Interesting article on Bredesen's strategy. Seems like what I would advise him to do, except I'd pledge to serve one term. I think that would play pretty well.

Also, everyone on Atlas seems to have declared the race Safe R from the get-go, but I want to see it unfold a little first, especially with polling. Bredesen is not a fool, and he admitted as much that he wouldn't have run if he thought it was a suicide mission, and he "did [his] homework."
I really hope Bredesen wins. He seems like a big FF/generally nice and good guy and he deserves that seat way more than crazy b***h Blackburn. Don't know why he would not only go into his term planning to run for reelection, but publicly declare that as well. Would have been smarter to say to serve just one term--considering he would be 80--or at least say his reelection plans were TBD.

I hope we get one or two Blackburn-Bredesen matchup polls in the coming weeks. This is going to be an interesting race.

By the way, the first senate debate between Bredesen and Blackburn takes place tonight at 6 pm.

I saw the last half of that, and Bredesen definitely did a good job presenting himself as an independent minded person who would represent the interests of Tennessee rather than his party, in contrast to Blackburn.  Blackburn is an attractive woman though and I think Bredesen going too negative against her could backfire.   And Bredesen's support for abortion could sink him, but I don't know if Blackburn is making that an issue in the campaign.
Doug Jones was unapologetically pro-choice, and he won.  Tennessee has two major urban cores (Nashville and Memphis) that are much more populous than Alabama's major urban core (Birmingam).

Jones only won because he was able to gain majority support outside Birmingham (which Hillary Clinton won) and ran the board with cities Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, and Auburn. Bredesen would have to run the board with places like Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, and Murfreesboro.

In fact, the main reason why Jones won is because Moore was a pedophile.

This is the most annoying, constantly propagated myth of that campaign. Multiple people on the Jones campaign have said that the allegations didn't budge their internal numbers, while Trump's rally in the Panhandle shifted the race a few points towards Moore.

Nashville and also Memphis should secede from the rest of TN and become 2 new city-states with 2 Senators each. Both would have populations greater than Wyoming, so they are deserving of 2 Senators each IMO.

Don't see a problem here! Why tf are there two Dakotas anyways?

We need to merge the Dakotas, merge Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. We can also chop off the Florida panhandle and give it to Alabama. It would also be smart to give DC and PR statehood and divide California into North and South.

Fun fact: Alabama actually attempted to purchase the Panhandle from Florida in the 1900s.

The "Pork Chop Gang", which was a machine of conservative Democrats ruling the country, was largely based in the Panhandle and Jacksonville areas, so they weren't thrilled about the proposal.

Imagine how much more stable the Middle East would be right now had we allowed Alabama to purchase the Panhandle

Twist: Florida selling the Panhandle sets off a flurry of butterflies that ends in thermonuclear war. The Middle East is stable, but only because everyone is dead.
