Tennessee: NBC/Marist, Aug. 25-28, 940 adults including 730 registered voters and 538 likely voters

Adults:

Approve 45
Disapprove 40

RV:

Approve 45
Disapprove 43

LV:

Approve 47
Disapprove 43

That's bad. He's going to win Tennessee regardless, but if his numbers are that low there they can't be good in swing states.

Not where you want the President to be in the closing stretch to the midterms. Notice his numbers among 65+.

Those college ed. numbers are catastrophic for the GOP.

Especially 34% for college educated whites.

I guess colleges actually are liberal indoctrination factories.

Unless educated people are just inherently less likely to respond well to a guy who responds to fact based criticisms of his policies by yelling "WRONG".

This is typical. A few good polls and suddenly D's on Atlas starts celebrating the inevitable 2020 victory. Sure, there has been a discernible tick down in Trumps numbers over the last couple of weeks. But whatever might have caused it (McCain, Cohen, WH insider, Woodward, etc), there is no particular reason to believe that THIS was the final straw that broke Trump. If the past is any predictor of the future, Trump is likely to bounce back. As long as the economy is strong in 2020 (it may or may not be), Trump will be at least competitive.

His approval rating in the RCP average hasn't reached 45% since February of last year. When did he "bounce back"? His approval ratings have been varying degrees of poor since his first couple months in office.

Isn't it the case that the longer a shutdown goes on the more people generally start to blame the President? So if this was going to help him it would have been through an initial bump which did not happen.

When the summary of the report came out I was worried Trump would get a bounce and end u in the mid/high 40's. That does not seem to have materialized.
