Having your parents on Facebook in the first place is weird and unwise, but then so are you I suppose.

I'm FB friends with my Mom, and know several other people who are FB friends with their parents.  Never thought it was a big deal.  But then, I guess it depends on how much you use FB and what you use it for.  I'm over 30, and have a relatively boring life, so there's nothing I would want to put on FB that I mind if my mother sees.

If you're slowing becoming an african,  have african kids, and call the Kenyan President your President....I'd suggest you defriend them Smiley

OK has always been an embarrassing neighbor for Texas...in fact, all of the adjacent entities (Mexico, NM, OK, AR, LA) are an embarrassment to Texas.  Tongue

I'm moving to Texas end of May start of June, so your state is about to become an embarrassment too. Sorry!

You do realize it's so hot where you're moving  you'll spontaneously combust, right?  Tongue

1. I still can't get over the fact that this guy's username is actually BushKenya. Love it.
2. If he actually ends up living in Kenya, I will literally eat a hat.

Psh, Bushie has promised on many occasions to "eat crow" if something went wrong. It always did, and yet, he never posted pictures OR video of him eating said crow.

Actually he ever posted pictures of his Kenyan trip that included him in it on his FB....ever.  Hmmmm.

Besides, this forum thinks the only acceptable answer is to stay in Oklahoma. They refuse to consider that God sometimes asks His children to do things that go against societal thinking.

Maybe your FB friends, who think going to Kenya is the only acceptable answer are in the wrong?

Well, it only makes sense to listen to FB friends. It's so much easier to get the answer you need, when you've purged those who don't share the same opinion. That's why I still have a ton of a-holes on my facebook.

So does Bushie.....believe me.

I'm talking about the kind who tell me things I don't want to hear.. you know, opposite sides of the story.

Oh, well his a-holes just agree with everything...... Smiley

But isn't his advise bathed in prayer?

yes, but I determine truth neither by praying nor by watching the direction o fthe wind.  Rather I use prayer to make requests and to have God explore my motives.

Yep, you'd get the Bushie axe.   Tongue

Good Monday Evening! I had a wonderful meeting with the founder of Maisha, Beatrice, this afternoon and she gave me some challenges and stuff to pray for and start doing! She said (1) they are working on funding for a volunteer housing center near the orphanage, (2) there is a family who is starting to save up to move down there for 2 years to adopt a child, (3) She encouraged me in late 2013 or early 2014 to go down there for a month or so to get a feel and assess what life would be like down there without the comfort of a team with me, (4) encouraged me to start interning with them in my spare time researching links for grants to fund the volunteer house, as well as projects in the slums, (5) start researching housing down there, such as renting a house or an apartment in Kisumu, and (6) not sell everything in America because I may want to come back every now and then to visit, (7) research missionary funding for 1, 2, 3, and 5 year terms. She wants me to continue to communicate with her as I have questions and as she thinks of something that might be useful. She wants to see me in a couple weeks before she leaves for Kenya on June 3 for two months.  She also wants me to still email her while she's down there so if I have questions or want her to check on something, she can do it in person.

sound advice, for a change.  i take it she doesn't go to your church.

No, she doesn't.

Did you delete her from your FB page for giving reasonable advice?

It is very possible, even close to likely, that within the next 24-96 hours, my return trip to Kenya in March 2013 will be completely PAID IN FULL!!!  That is the big fleece I put out at the very end of March 2012 when I first got home from Kenya, that my trip would be completely paid for by the first meeting this fall.  Pfffff, my God can do better than that!! I got a call last week that an anonymous donor who will not give me their name or contact information, is going to give me through a mutual friend the money for me to go again.  I am going to pick up the money at 10:00 am on Tuesday and have it deposited in my account shortly after that!

Does this happen outside of movies?

No, it happens all the time according to my email inbox.  The next step involves Bushie giving his personal information and bank account number to the anonymous donor so he can transfer the money.

Apparently, it does still happen because I will be picking up the money in 90 minutes from right now.  No, I am not going to give any PII (personally identifiable information) to this donor.  I am not even going to see the donor, the donor is giving it to a 3rd party who will give it to me.  It will be in the form of a regular check.

Sounds like one of those Nigerian scams I get all the time.

How did this prospective "donor" become aware of your "need?"  Did you advertise or something? I am not sure what the text, "[t]hat is the big fleece I put out at the end of march 2012" means. Is this some reference to the golden fleece?

No no no, Torie.......fleecing the donors is the game......got it now?

Fleece refers to Gideon who didn't believe an angel and hung out a fleece to test God's will to see if the angel was telling him an actual message from God, or whether the angel was bs'ing him. If you're interested enough for details, you can probably find more info through google, without too much difficulty.

That's where it comes from.  I was encouraged to put out a fleece by one of the men who went with us on the trip.

And it worked, someone got fleeced!!!!!!!
