Short answer--Why bother (see Hillgoose above)

Long answer--Coal power plants are going to keep closing, WV mines are going to keep declining and shut down as the coal gives out, even the met coal mines (a major one will close this week for "geologic reasons").  Fat Nixon can lie to them all day, it doesn't change reality.

Their population pyramid is totally fubar'd.  They have fewer people than they did in 1980.
They have fewer people than they did in 1950.  They have 262,000 people between the ages of 55-64 and 212,000 between the ages 10-19.  They had 30,000 births in 1980 and 18,500 last year.  They are not a magnet for and are in fact hostile to the idea of immigration.   They are a lock to have fewer people in 2050 than they do now.  They don't have a Senator who can drag stuff into the state like they once did.  They live in geographically difficult terrain where infrastructure is difficult to build and maintain.  There is no compelling reason economically to build and maintain such infrastructure.

Save for the Eastern Panhandle and Morgantown (and even Morgantown is iffy) there is no reason to expect anything different from West Virginia.  Why bother.

What

How the hell is this absurd and ignorant? Every word of that post is true, and it's backed up by facts and figures.

Politician refuses to believe that WV is full of bitter people who hate it when black people also get welfare money (that they feel should only go to “hardworkin’ folk”—aka white people) and especially hate it when black people kneel.

He is the kind of person IceSpear is talking about when mocking the socialist avatars for wanting to trade West Virginia for Colorado and Virginia.

As someone who 1) isn’t that socially liberal and 2) despises Trump for mostly far right economic policy and supports Democrats since they’re slightly less of corporate sellouts than the GOP and do not think it is wise to (even if there’s truth to it in varying degrees across the country) sh**t on rural areas and is probably considered by some (although PNM seems to like me) in the same group as one of those socialist avatars who want to trade VA for WV, that post was too substantive to belong here.

Take one look at any ghetto/struggling rural area in the US and you'll see why abortion is much needed.

No one should have. But it's still interesting to see that Pelosi just barely hit the number that she needed. That suggests, that a significant portion of the Democratic caucus is opposed to her, and should be another signal that she should retire very soon.

Thats.....15 Democrats, or 7% of the Democratic Caucus.

To be fair many Democrats voted for her because only no viable candidate emerged from the left.

I say its time to rename this thread.

My proposal is shown in this post in its modified subject header.

I beg to differ.  Smilo is a FF.

What if Trump crossed 270 EV due to Nevada? Sisolak would be the Ralph Nader of 2020.

Warren is a tool to divide the base. She didn't go to Dakota when it was needed, stayed out of 2016 for fear of angering Clinton, didn't support M4A till every other presidential candidate did & is seemingly open to more moderate ways. She has also said she doesn't rule out PAC money for the GE.

Add to the fact that has poor temperament & massive electability concerns. How is cop Kamala Harris any worse than Warren? Apart from achieving nothing, Warren cant even get elected. And someone with 0 political courage is a failure.

While I think Nevada is close to being gone for Democrats, Colorado is already there.

Nevada trended R in both 2012 and 2016 and trended 5 points republican in 2018 for the house elections (only a 4 point swing to the dems).

It will be a Safe R state again in about 10 years.

I believe that the Earth is getting warmer through both natural and man-made processes.  But, the US is contributing relatively little to the man-made part per-capita compared to other nations.  Regardless, I simply don't buy into the global warming hysteria.  If the Earth warms 5-10 degrees, all it will mean is more pleasant winters.  Florida and NYC aren't going to sink below the sea.  If places like that were, we would have started to see high-profile examples of that already, as the Earth has warmed several degrees.

TL/DR: Global warming is real, but no big deal.

Plenty of people.  People who are mostly satisfied with their personal lives, or at the very least would rather keep trying to improve than roll the dice with the kinds of radical economic change Warren is proposing.  People who understand that we have to pay interest on the national debt.  People who wouldn't get any of the free stuff Warren is proposing and would only end up paying for it.  People who like their health insurance ("lol nobody likes their health insurance" is a bad argument, kids) and don't want Warren to take it away from them and replace it with a government program that will probably suck.  People who are counting on a steady 7% annual return from the stock market for their retirement portfolios and don't want Warren to f*** that up -- especially people who are close to retirement and don't want to see their enormous portfolios disappear right before they can start spending.

Oh, also the 70+% of Americans who associate "socialism" with failed authoritarian states like Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Zimbabwe, the Soviet Union, etc. and not "social democratic" capitalist economies like Germany, France and Scandinavia.  Warren's lockstep attachment to Bernie Sanders means she will not be able to dodge the "socialist" label in the general.  She will be a socialist, whether she identifies as that or not.

Thank you, Scott, for pulling the footage. It really is ridiculous that PJ’s first ever incarnation was as a Trump supporter and everyone pretends this didn’t happen. Even if it was “ironic” (Roll Eyes), it has never been addressed and he transitioned out of it just in time. Hilarious that OSR, who I don’t know to have ever understood sarcasm, apparently thinks PJ’s “irony” was obvious.

Why does President Johnson get flack for this when Leif never got flack for this despite Leif being a much bigger ironic Trump supporter than President Johnson

Lief never posts on Old Atlas anymore. That may be why.
