It was McCain who mischaracterized Obama's position.
Obama has never advocated one on one, President to President (or Prime Minister or whatever) meetings without preconditions.
What he HAS advocated are lower level negotiations and talks without preconditions...something that has happened in every administration in my lifetime.
Obama's initial comments were sloppier than that. As with so many other of his comments/positions, Obama has moved to the sensible center. I was very impressed with Obama in the debate, by the way. I won't lose much sleep if he is elected. Heck, I plan to slow down anyway, so I might even get a tax cut.
There is something to be said for a man who rose from the Left without much in the way of core beliefs.
