It's time for Carville to be put out to pasture. 

The problem is that Democrat's campaign message is essentially that Trump is so dangerous, so onerous to our "democracy" that Biden is the only responsible choice.  That isn't going to resonate with 26-year-olds, who were 17 when Trump famously rode down his escalator.  This is normal to them.

The bolded portion is something that I've been thinking about.

A fairly significant part of Democratic opposition to Trump is how he's an aberration from the usual way of doing politics (which he is). But for a whole generation of voters, a Trump Republican party is a core view of how they view politics.

I also wonder if the constant referring back to the 1930s/1940s (fascism, appeasement, persecution, war crimes, etc etc) might be adding to this - if you see a chaotic political world today, and read about chaotic politics in history, you may not think about stable political times, which is what Establishment folks think about.
