This doesn't seem too surprising tbh. PNM is right in regards to Hood's popularity and disapproval of the GOP. It'll probably just end up being something like in Kentucky where the race was expected to be a close win for the party in power but the out-of-power party sweeps it up instead (though it seems that the polls might just have Hood ahead anyway). Besides, this being an off-year election should make it resemble more special-election-type turnout in which there will be a larger percentage of out-of-power party voters voting than in a presidential or midterm year.
