Ironically, as soon as my other topic was moved to a different category, I was going to actually begin the 2044 elections. So here goes!

Senator Ossoff announces White House Bid
Popular senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia announced his bid today for the Presidency. He has served in the Senate since 2030, and before that the representative for Georgia's 6th congressional district since the 2020 Bullock Wave. Despite his state shifting to the right over the past decade, Ossoff has held on as he is more conservative than most Democrats. This, however, may hurt him on the national stage, due to America as a whole shifting left.

Familiar names enter the primary race
Today, two very familiar names jumped into the presidential race; Ivanka Trump and Malia Obama. Mrs. Trump currently runs the massive plethora of Trump companies, and has portrayed herself as a pro-business moderate. Like her father, she lacks political experience and is running for the Republican nomination. Malia Obama, daughter of the 44th President Barack Obama, is currently the Governor of Illinois, and before that a member of the Illinois state senate. She is running for the Democratic nomination.

Governor Kander to run
Well-known Governor Jason Kander of Missouri has decided to run for president, a spokesman reported. Kander has served as Governor for the past 8 years, and is term-limited. Before becoming Governor, he represented Missouri's 4th Congressional district. Kander is currently 62 years old.

Also, here is the explanation for the previous post.

It's now August 2043, and the primaries are starting to heat up. On the Democratic side, Senator Ossoff is joined by Brian Schatz, Senator from Hawaii, and Blake Sharper, Governor of Colorado. Additionally, progressive scion Representative Rainier Decker of Vermont has indicated interest in running. On the Republican side, Vice President Fredrick Khan, House Speaker Roger Mountebank of Washington, and Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas have declared their candidacies.

In the Republican party, a civil war between the moderate and conservative wings is brewing. Thus far, Senator Cotton is the only conservative in the race. Speaker Mountebank is a well-known moderate, while VP Khan is in between. As popular president Ryan Baker retires, the Republican civil war has the potential to cripple the party.

The Democrats also lack a clear leader, but for a different reason. Their previous candidate, Brock Simmons of Wyoming, was forced to retire for personal reasons. While Democrats don't have a lot of radical ideological differences, the primaries may put some strain on the party.

Senator Knowles announces White House bid
Celebrity-turned-senator Beyonce Knowles of Texas announced her White House bid today. Knowles, one of the more progressive members of the Democratic Party, has nationwide appeal from her celebrity days. Her critics believe she is too progressive to run, and lacks experience. But, according to some, she is now the front-runner for the Democratic nomination.

Can I also apply and be a senator from Florida? I don't really care what my first name is here, as long as my last name is Saint Smiley
Sure. I'll just make your first name Kyle. And I'm also going to assume you're a GOP senator.

LATE SEPTEMBER, 2043
Texas governor Payton Ennis enters Senate race
Republican governor Payton Ennis of Texas announced today that he was challenging incumbent senator John Smith, an Independent. Smith split from the GOP in 2042, and has been a prime GOP target for attack. However, it is still unclear if Smith will run for Senate, as he is mulling an independent Presidential run.

Senator Peebleton mulls Presidential run
Well-known Senator Emily Peebleton may run for President instead of re-election, one of her aides leaked. She has been encouraged to run by her political allies Sen. Kamala Sawant (D-SD) and Sen. Stephen Curry (D-CA). Should she enter, she will be the youngest candidate in the running for America's top office.

Representative Gallagher, Senator Sununu announce Presidential bids
Today, two more big names entered the GOP presidential race; Representative Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin, and Senator Chris Sununu of New Hampshire. Both have served in US government for over 20 years, and are respected senior members of the Republican party.

Niles Chan to contest Oregon senate seat
Niles Chan, the moderate Republican representing OR-1, decided to run for Jeff Merkley's Senate seat. His running positions the Republican party to retake the seat for the first time since 2008, as Chan is very well-known and respected in Oregon.

Senator Swalwell to run for President
Senior senator Eric Swalwell of California announced his run for President from his home in Dublin, California. He is relatively unknown nationally, and thus it is unlikely he will win.

How about David Rontley, 38 year old Democratic governor of Indiana (Formerly the mayor of South Bend). He is a slightly left-leaning and ambitious centrist who is nearing the end of his first term as governor. He is a bit more left-leaning on social issues than economic ones. He is running for re-election as Indiana governor.
Wait were you going to add mine?
Yeah, sorry. I forgot to put Indiana on.

SCANDAL!!!
A major scandal has rocked the Baker administration and shook up the 2044 presidential race. Leaked by unidentified GOP malcontents, it was revealed that Vice President Khan, as well as multiple Cabinet members, had engaged in 'inappropriate' dealings with large corporations in New York and New Jersey. President Baker appeared to be uninformed of this, and appeared surprised when he supposedly 'found out'. However, the President then proceeded to fire Khan and demand the resignations of virtually all the government officials involved, possibly saving his credibility and his presidency. Conservative outlets have applauded Baker's quick action, while liberal outlets are unconvinced that Baker is completely innocent. Additionally, Khan has left the GOP primaries, making moderate Roger Mountebank of Washington the frontrunner.

An OOC note: In this TL, some states have pushed their primaries way back, to have more time for Presidential campaigning. Consequentially, there are some primaries in November.

Sharper withdraws from Presidential race, endorses Ossoff
Recognizing he has little chance of winning the Democratic primaries, and following a less-than-ideal performance in the first presidential debate, Governor Blake Sharper officially withdrew from the presidential race. He will return to being the governor of Colorado, and will serve out the remainder of his term. He has been mentioned as a possible 2048 candidate, assuming the Democrats lose in 2044.

PRIMARIES TONIGHTHello everyone, welcome to AAA news. Tonight, the primary season opens in Illinois and Indiana. Both states are rich in delegates, and both are key states that will decide the nomination. We start off with the Hoosier state tonight, as it's polls closed 25 minutes ago.

In the Democratic field, Jon Ossoff has a 3-point margin over Jason Kander. The Democratic base in Indiana is more conservative than average, and thus favors the Blue Dog candidate. Meanwhile, Knowles-Carter is currently running ahead of polling data and may get the upset, though Ossoff remains favored. It is still much too close to call, however.

Democratic Field 6% Reporting Too Close to Call
Jon Ossoff 29%
Jason Kander 26%
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter 24%
Rainier Decker 12%
Brian Schatz 5%
Eric Swallwell 2%
Others 2%

On the Republican side, Ivanka Trump is riding an unexpected surge, and is nearly tied with Senator Cotton for first. Speaker Mountebank, meanwhile, is trailing. Like the Democratic side, the GOP primary is too close to call.

Republican Field 6% reporting Too Close to Call
Tom Cotton 30%
Ivanka Trump 30%
Roger Mountebank 26%
Chris Sununu 10%
Mike Gallagher 2%

PRIMARIES TONIGHTHello everyone, welcome to AAA news. This is the last update before polls close in Illinois, so stay tuned.

In the Democratic field, Jon Ossoff has widened his margin over Kander to 4 points. Meanwhile, Knowles-Carter has exactly tied Kander, an interesting development.

Democratic Field 31% Reporting Too Close to Call
Jon Ossoff 29%
Jason Kander 25%
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter 25%
Rainier Decker 11%
Brian Schatz 6%
Eric Swallwell 2%
Others 2%

On the Republican side, Tom Cotton has eked out a narrow lead over Ivanka Trump. But, it's still anyone's game in the Hoosier state.

Republican Field 31% reporting Too Close to Call
Tom Cotton 31%
Ivanka Trump 29%
Roger Mountebank 27%
Chris Sununu 10%
Mike Gallagher 2%
Others 1%

In Illinois, we are getting some weird results for the Democratic race, as the polls have technically not closed. There are no results for the Republican primary at the moment, however. We will display the results we have for humor.

Democratic Field <1% Reporting Too Close to Call
Pepe the Frog (write-in) 55%
Jon Ossoff 20%
Emily Peebleton (write-in) 10%
Jason Kander 5%
Brian Schatz 5%
Stephen Colbert (write-in) 5%
