I shall assume sponsorship of this perfectly reasonable bill that was written by a highly esteemed member of the Southern Chamber of Delegates. I believe that we must take action to increase incentives for people to become willing to donate their blood, organs, and bone marrow due to chronic shortages of these life saving body parts and fluids. There is no scientific logical basis to prohibit gay men from donating blood and organs as long as they simply pass the normal blood screening for diseases, and we shouldn't turn them down in an act of pointless discrimination especially since we need as many donors as possible. We also need to incentivize more potential donors by allowing them to receive tangible compensation for giving something as precious as a body part through health insurance premium deductions or the giving of monetary or other forms of gifts to donors. This bill aims to help our most vulnerable while protecting personal freedom.
