Come on lol I mean hand on thigh is bad but asking a woman out on a date when it is 'unwanted' is harassment now? Seriously?

It is if Kihuen's behavior was a repeat offense. In cases like these, the victim has almost always pleaded with their harasser to stop.

If it's just this, he should retire and let the Democrats try again, potentially with Lucy Flores. But if more skeletons come tumbling out of Kihuen's closet, it'll be time for his party to chase him out.

She said he asked her out on dates twice.

I mean come on, even if she said 'no and I'm never going out with you' I wouldn't call one additional request for a date harassment. He didn't stalk her, he didn't repeatedly undermine or belittle her, he didn't fire her or threaten her job.

You're presuming there's something here when there's no evidence of anything. Yes obviously if he did something beyond what's reported here that is harassment then he harasse her, but the facts of the case as stated are just clearly and obviously not.

I think you may be getting the "twice" figure from the bolded part here, which I actually missed until just now and which makes this worse:

Rep. Jacky Rosen calls for Kihuen to resign.

Rep. Dina Titus says Kihuen should “do what’s right for the people of Nevada”

Yeah, it's time. Now that we have actual character references painting Kihuen as a creep, he needs to go pronto.

Without Flores, what does the bench look like here? Is it time to bring back Horsford, or was he just a bad candidate?

Frankly, I'm actually sort of tempted to back Vilela. I generally trust the judgment of the Reid Machine, but she's a perfect contrast to a pervert like Kihuen and has working class bona fides.

Likely/Safe D ——> Likely/Safe D with some other Democrat.

I always envied your optimism. Safe D in, essentially, swing district? I am laughing heartily....

No, Safe D in a D+2 district, in an increasing-blue Nevada, in a Trump midterm.

D+2 is, essentially, swing district. Increasingly blue? In long-term perspective - yes, but we speak about 2018. What remains? Trump midterm? No one forces Republicans to nominate open Trumpist.

You say that as if it matters. Any Republican running in a swingy district next year will be absolutely bludgeoned with the Trump card, full-stop, and Nevadans roundly loathe him up and down the state.

Wow. ABC article has Kihuen saying that Pelosi and the DCCC knew about the allegations during his campaign, but still funded him. Shades of Mark Foley 2006, very explosive allegation against the Democratic leadership.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/nevada-democrat-accused-sexual-misconduct-resign/story?id=51599790

Adamant denials from all parties he accused though, so I seriously doubt that's true. If there was a DCCC internal investigation like he claims then there would be a paperwork trail somewhere, and if that was the case there wouldn't have been the absolute adamant denials from Pelosi, the Nevada Democratic party, and the DCCC. Sounds like Kihuen is so desperate he's resorted to lying.

Kihuen has outed himself as a complete slime in the last month, so yeah, he's most likely lying his oily ass off. Hopefully the release of the texts finally shoves him out of office.

Likewise, and I think the state party would benefit from doing the same. She's fairly young, she's Latina, she has a tremendously effective background, and she isn't a Chaplinian joke like Lucy Flores. All around, Vilela is the perfect contrast to a slime like Kihuen.

Kihuen needs to go. He doesn't deserve the seat and could lose it if he stays on.

If he stays on, Vilela swats him in the primary. Calling that now.

Flores should run for this seat again.

Her victory would be a fitting case of karma

Is it worth it though? Flores sucks.

She also lives in California now. Vilela would be better in every way, if we want to go for a progressive.

One article says Cancela, Pat Spearman and John Lee might run.

Can Vilela beat them?

Cancela and Spearman would probably cut into Vilela's bases significantly, since they're both women and and both established progressive entities in Nevada (with Cancela having the added benefit of also being Latina). Lee vs. Vilela would be interesting, though, since Lee is very much a member of the establishment Vegas business class, a la Cloobeck.

Pat Spearman running and winning would be interesting, considering she's a black, lesbian, military vet ordained reverend.

So what you're saying is that Vilela, Cancela, and Spearman would all make the Trump base s**t nickels.
