As the House sponsor of this bill, I ask of the Senate to consider the text concerning the "lame duck" session in December that was reduced before I assumed sponsorship, and amend that text to restore the session (as it would hurt an incoming session to be less active than an outgoing session) if possible.

So edit Section 15, Clause 3?

Correct.

I can't offer an amendment right now (I will tomorrow), but given what's happening with the Labor Party I recommend we take the time to discuss the process for party dissolution and for a marge. I think we should establish in law exactly what we understand by both different issues, and what happens to members of a dissolved or merged party.

Fully agree with this.

Based on principles of free speech and association, I dont see how in good conscience we could involuntarily change a citizen's party registration.

Also agree with this. (As an observer, since I'm not in the Senate) I think that if the party simply rebranded, then their status on the rolls should be changed, but if the party dissolved/merged, then they should retain their registration.

Since I was the House sponsor, I'll motion to sponsor this. Wink

With no objections, Senator wxtransit has assumed sponsorship. What is the sponsor's response to Amendment S12:02?

Amendment is friendly.

Alrighty, any questions still outstanding that we need to address? I'm not yet ready to call for a final vote, but if everyone else has also found nothing wrong with the bill, then I think we should.

I have a suggestion for an Amendment.

We limit the amount of offices someone can officially run for, as in a Citizen can officially run for 1 office only, rather than running for multiple offices and possibly losing one and just taking another.

As someone who actually tried doing that, I see it as a problem because I did look rather sketchy and corrupt in doing that, and want to prevent it from happening again.

A caveat for this would be "officially" running, which would be classified as actually being placed on the ballot for a race, I don't believe write-ins should be limited, as many write-ins tend to be ran in a joking manner.

I completely agree.

I'll wait for some clarification on the amendment from Sestak.

Aye, and I apologize to PiT for not stating my feedback to the amendment.

For the record, it's friendly. Tongue
