I've only ever been to the Atlantic beaches in Florida in the US, so I don't know. At anyrate those Floridian beaches were very nice, not sure that would be the case further North though.
The Gulf Beaches in Florida are much, much better. From Pensacola all the way down to Sarasota are some of the best beaches in the world.
I don't like Florida, but this is the truth. I spent a couple of years stationed at Tyndall AFB/Panama City and those beaches were epic. Soft, white sand, nice clear water and on base, no people.
I strongly disagree. To me, a good Beach isn't just about sand. It needs dramatic topography, ideally that which breaks up th monotonous, flat ocean, and waves you can surf on. You can't beat Santa Barbara-Laguna Beach or Hawaii for that. Beaches like Florida's Gulf Coast or the Bahamas are just boring and not that pretty, IMO.
