The only reason Kavanaugh is popular in North Dakota is because Conservative groups have been smashing the airwaves there with pro-Kavanaugh ads. If Democrats spend a million dollars or so on anti-Kavanaugh ads in the state, that will make him unpopular.

Either the race is completely over, or the NRCC is making another really stupid decision by forfeiting the entirety of the airwaves.

It is the latter for sure. This gives Democrats an even better position to define the race in the last stretch.

To be frank, I believe that what Heitkamp did was an honest error, and that responsibility falls upon newspapers in cases like this to catch errors like this and to make sure that this type of mistake does not go through.

Something to keep in mind:

There are a lot of farmers in North Dakota. The tariffs are going to be in the news again in a few days, because harvesting season for many of the crops where retaliatory tariffs were placed literally falls in the time between now and election day. Because of how close it is to election day, farmers will not have time to forget. Considering that it will be simple and straightforward to explain how Trump is responsible for this, and because most farmers usually vote Republican, and because there are so many of them in the state, this could legitimately be enough to move the race towards the end by even more points than the worst polls currently show Heitkamp trailing, if the Heitkamp campaign aggressively pushed this point in the final 2 weeks. The Heitkamp campaign is well funded at this point, so they have the resources they need if they are to be aggressive on this issue.
