Obviously Feingold's point is that Alabama, like most US states, is filled with poors.   This is an obvious fact, and I'm sure he sympathizes with these victims of the system rather than condemns them as a Republican would do.

Yup, Alabama is nothing but check-cashing stores and trailer parks:

BellSouth (once headquartered in Alabama)
Books-a-million (3rd largest book retailer, headquarted in Alabama)
HealthSouth (nations largest outpatient company, HQ in Alabama)
Saks, Inc (owner of Saks 5th Ave, HQ in Alabama)
Vulcan Materials (nations largest aggregates producer, HQ in Alabama)

You silly ass, we all know that every state contains a wealthy elite.  But Feingold is right that a huge portion (in many states a majority), live in the miserable fashion he described.  Basically, most people are poor.
