Well, Columbine is coming up so it could be one of the gun-crazy folks.

But who shoots around at a campus at NIGHT ?

That would point more to an arrest attempt for the Boston suspects, who could have studied there and lived there and tried to flee.

Today is 4/19, Tender: The end of the Waco standoff and the Oklahoma City Bombing. The holiest of days for all anti-government sociopaths.

This doesn't have anything to do with Columbine.

Yeah, but the Columbine anniversary is tomorrow.

And I think someone with guns has actually more to do with that, rather than the OC Bombing or Waco. (if it does not have anything to do with the Marathon suspects)

Or it could have nothing to do with any anniversary.  Sometimes nutjobs decide to do nutjobby things without it being the anniversary of something.

Yeah, could be true as well.

But I still think that it could have to do with the Marathon suspects: Someone from the university staff could have recognized the suspects and informed the police and as they arrived the suspects tried to flee with guns and explosives.

It's just strange that someone would start shooting on a campus in the middle of the night ...

We'll see ...

Boston Globe is saying that the one person in custody is a Marathon bombing suspect

Good job by the police then that they got at least 1 alive.

At a heavy price though, with 1 officer dead.

If the 2nd suspect is hiding in a upper floor of a house right now, the chances are really slim that they get him alive ...

There's video of them arresting the first suspect.

The news really does love contradicting themselves.

I'm curious what news he's watching.

So, are we guessing the nationality of the suspects ?

Saudis ? Egyptians ? Iraqis ?

I'd say from the Gulf, with possibilities for Egypt and Pakistan.

So, Chechens ?

Well, not that far away from the Egypt, Arabian peninsula, Pakistan belt that I thought they were from.

And they are still looking for him ? He could be anywhere right now ...

Just turned into the 7News live stream again and neighbours said that a few years ago, the 2 were dressed normal, then a year ago or so the older brother started to dress like a Taliban/conservative Muslim and then 1 month ago switched back to a normal dressing style and shaved off his beard again.

The Tea party is calling this another Al Qaeda attack. Is there any evidence?  Or even this is Islam-related?

Islam-related most likely (see what I posted just above, if true), Al-Qaida very likely not.

Maybe not Islam-related in a way that their "hate" is directed against America, but their "hate" directed against Russia for more autonomy for Chechnia or independence for that region. And they carried it out in the US simply because they lived there.

This is starting to seem more an more like the case of Faisal Shahzad the failed Time Sq. Bomber. Immigrants who tried to make it work in the USA then life didn't work out then became 'self-radicalized'

But were their motivations more about Chechnyan nationalism or anti-Western Radical Islam?

This will only be known of course if they get him alive and he talks to them about their motive.

Something else now: "to submerge in Watertown" - kind of a bizarre phrase for describing the suspect hiding in the city.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did NBC just say they became citizens on 9/11?

They are not US citizens, but LPRs.

Quote of the Day

"I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine?"

Assuming that he survives his injuries, will he get a trial now under MA law (no death penalty) or federal law (death penalty) ?
