I caught the first two in the cinema over the winter (my local reruns classic stuff over quiet periods to keep attendance up), so I'll probably skip those and go see Return of the King.

The CGI, while still marvelous was straining a little bit at the seams on the big screen in some of the wide shots (the collapsing stairs in the run towards the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, and some of the panning shots over the Uruk-Hai swarming in the rain during Helms Deep were oddly composited), so I'm hoping the remaster doesn't make moments like that stand out and spoil the magic.

This one?  Seriously?

I saw this when I was in middle school (this was in the 1990s) when the teacher had the VHS tape on.  To say I was unimpressed is putting it mildly.

The Bakshi version!

A trippy, 70s, hand-drawn, partially-rotoscoped LOTR with an A-list cast including John Hurt as a brooding Aragorn?

Incredible concept - just a shame it was so poor in practice.
