I support stopping human trafficking. However I don't see what banning child beauty pageants has to do with that. It doesn't seem necessary.

Because, as I said, child beauty pageants promote unhealthy attitudes toward appearance at a young age and arguably create fodder for pedophiles.

It's not a particularly important issue for me, but I don't see the positive impact these pageants have on society or the kids who are pressured into them.  If you'd like, I can hold a vote and let Parliament decide on section six.  The rest of the bill is pretty straightforward.

Ah yes I didn't see your second post. I propose a vote on eliminating section six. I can see why some would be against them. However there are some child beauty pageants that have less of a focus on appearance and more on talent. These ones also restrict the glitz, make up and sexual appeal. There is also potential scholarship money involved for future education. Also letting girls compete in a well run pageant is not much different from cheerleading, dance or gymnastics where the outfits are also skimpy.
