I wonderd this for a lot but afaik i know that they select a VP based on

more expirience than the candidate (Biden, Gore)

to target a specific group (Ferraro, Palin, Pence)

To unite the party (Fairbanks, Mondale, Sparkman)

To balance the ticket (Someone from North/Someone from South)

And to win certain states (Kaine, Marshall, Bentsen )

But what more? what does a candidate select a VP on
