Jenkins has a new ad out, trying to make the Senate race about Hillary Clinton and throwing in some strong dog-whistles in there too and how liberals will 'take our guns'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2zpd1K12Fc&feature=youtu.be

Ok Rs can bash Dem places as crime riddled and drug infested but not the other way around. Can you imagine a Dem candidate running an ad like this? And what Hillary said is nothing compared to what Jenkins is doing it’s far worse.

Republicans get to do whatever they want with little to no comeuppance. It's just the country we live in. We just have to deal with it.

Jenkins slams Morrissey's ties to president Hillary Clinton:

This is pathetic. That doesn't even look convincing! It seems that Jenkins is hoping that the Republican blind fury against Clinton is blind to a literal level so that they don't notice the obvious photo shop.

I still wouldn't be too surprised if Morrisey eked out a win, but yeah, Blankens*** is favored going in. And most Republicans (including McConnell) will support him, even if they do so begrudgingly. You see, he has this magical (R) next to his name which is kind of a big deal.

Moral of the story: Never assume people "wouldn't be THAT stupid", or they'll say "don't tell me how stupid I can be!"

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" might actually be true for once though there is a chance that Blankenship finds some way to humiliate Manchin by association. The guy might just be an agent of chaos.

Don Blankenship, the gift that keeps on giving! His presence is no longer a guilty pleasure for me since he will never be senator.

Further strengthens Manchin's position in this race.

Patrick Morrissey is wrong for West Virginia - Republicans should remove all funding for him; he will lose big. Blankenship was the GOP's best shot at a pickup, though it was still a longshot.

It also would have been more entertaining with Blankenship.

West Virginians probably don't seem to care about Zinke or Pruitt so Manchin should be just fine. But then again, Manchin is marred by having a "D" next to his name. So it probably only matters for him and could hurt him after all.

Patrick Morrissey is a terrible candidate and will lose badly to Manchin by 15-20 points, at least!!

I am not sure how good a candidate he is yet. It is going to be a tough victory for him as West Virginia is a generally "pro-labour" State with the backlash against the Democratic party stemming from other issues; issues which Joe Manchin portrays himself as being strong on, i.e. gun rights, coal and mining e.t.c. It is certainly possible though and if Trump vocally advocates for the election of Morrissey, that will make it more difficult for Manchin to win.

He’s a bad candidate. The guy is incredibly easy to paint as a carpetbagger since he once ran for Congress in New Jersey. Carpetbagging in general is bad, but carpetbagging across state lines is worse.

Especially if they're from a "coastal elitist" state like mine.

This makes me upset that we missed out on a Blankenship-Swearengin match-up. West Virginia would lose, but comedy would win.

Potus (piece of trash underneath sh!t) Trump has landed in WV. If he screws with Manchin Imma be even more infuriated than I am now. But with all the distractions going on today it should keep him busy enough to slam Manchin less than otherwise so that’s at least good.

I like that acronym. I remember when my Republican grandma thought she was so clever for thinking of OMG (Obama Must Go) in 2012. This is way better than that.

Wonderful news! Since it's clear that Dems are regaining the House on a "Drumpf sucks" bounce there's no reason for her not to teach Manchin a lesson. The alt-centrists never received blowback for Lamont/Lieberman 2006 and now here's the perfect chance!

Lamont seems to be getting revenge on his own this year.

Bagel, it'll be okay. Morrissey from the Smiths has a better chance of winning this race than Patrick Morrisey.

I get that Manchin has to vote with Trump some of the time, but it's still pretty pathetic. He could've voted 'no' without changing the outcome, and still could have been able to point to many votes of his that could prove that he's not a die-hard liberal. The fact that he chose to cowardly play politics instead of showing dignity in a moment like this really doesn't speak well of him.

I am honestly surprised to see a tweet come out from Donald Trump Jr that actually has some level of logical though process in it.

If only Bill Nelson or Claire McCaskill survived. I'd trade one of them for this dude.

I don't agree. We still need Manchin, unfortunately. It would have been nice if Nelson survived though, he really should have. Having 48 Senators would make a world of difference over only having 47.

By the way, Ocasio-Cortez is staring daggers at him! I can't say I blame her.

I can't blame her much either. A lot of how Manchin acted at the sotu yesterday was cringe worthy and maybe even a little upsetting.

Wow! That means hell of a lot coming from you!

Was I satisfied seeing Ocasio pissed off? Duh. So it gave me a chuckle, and it was pretty brash and unique of Manchin which was cool to some extent and deserved my acknowledgement, because I have a spot in my heart for mavericks. But it made me nauseous to watch him go flirt with Kavanaugh at the start. Kavanaugh was a necessary evil in my opinion, and it is no longer necessary to be nice with him. It's also not an election year anymore, so he really did not have to put on a show either. Also it was unneeded (because he is no longer in election season) and embarrassing to watch him wink at Trump and even hang around for a handshake after what Trump has done to him. I don't mind his antics when it is an election season, as Pelosi says just win baby win, but when it is not needed anymore, I would be lying to myself and you if I said I was not at least a tad disappointed in some continued antics.

I agree. I still think Manchin could have gotten away with not voting for Kavanaugh, but I agree with you in nearly every other way. We need Manchin, but Manchin doesn't need to reach out to Trump and the GOP so much anymore.
