I welcome the Republican hubris. It will make them easier to beat when the Democrat runs on actual issues and the Republicans continue to scream about antifa, MS-13, Clinton's emails, and Nancy Pelosi. They think it works still and I am completely fine with that.

Not directly relevant to congressional races but...

This could be. I'm iffy on Lance's chances (hey that rhymes!) in November. It is quite funny though how post redistricting his district was meant to have been made safer for him but now there is a real chance that he's in danger if the town of Millburn, Union, and Somerset counties vote for his opponent by similar numbers that they did for Clinton.

Strange they didn't move 39 back, it was lean D for a while there, but was moved back because of uncertainty in the primary.

NJ definitely has republicans spooked though. They got a piss-poor recruit in NJ-02 basically forcing the  already expected triage. In the other three main one: NJ-03, NJ-7, NJ-11, dems have quality recruits facing quality rep recruits in a dem state in a dem year - or a republican ballot advantage in NJ-03. Oh, and dems won the turnout game yesterday in all but one seat, and that one they lost featured a brutal Rep primary that burned countless donor money - encouraging high turnout.

The NJ-05 Republican primary was truly a sight to behold. Both Republicans were trying to out-Trump each other in a district that Trump won by 1%. I was mildly surprised that the less recognizable candidate won. Lonegan is a perpetual loser.

We're the big tent party. We can accept differences if it furthers our interests. We aren't a cult.

Are you using the drumpfinator chrome extension?

Yes actually, it still provides me a small laugh every now and then. I sure could use it at times. I didn't know that other people could see it though. Maybe I'll take it off then.

It literally changed the content of Arkansas Yankees quote in your post.

I didn't notice that since every time Trump's name appeared, it changed to "Drumpf." Anyway, I took it off. Crisis solved.

Going back to what's relevant I am pretty much in line with Sabato's Senate ratings (except New Jersey-Safe D) and even Daily Kos' House ratings, maybe like 90% of them. ME-02 sticks out as something that should be a tossup at worst.

New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia might just be the ground zero states for the Republican suburban collapse.

Vern Buchanan in FL-16 is in trouble. Any money he spent on tv ads just went down the drain with the coverage of him purchasing a $3M yacht the same day the GOP Tax Bill passed. He will still likely win but hopefully has to work for it.

Oof did he really? That’s... not a good headline.

Yep.

Most voters won't care. Trump bragged about his wealth and yachts...in North Dakota of all places. Yet his audience still ate it up. "Yay elitism!"

The GOP should have expected this. Donors know that they would be better off using their money as toilet paper at this point.

Good thing King didn't run for statewide office in 2014, or he'd be a senator now.

Doubtful. Ernst was elected in large part because of her folksy, nice girl persona.
King's nasty personality and strident rhetoric would have turned off a lot of voters, so even Braley might have won in the end.

Trump's nasty personality and strident rhetoric didn't matter to them.

But Trump ran against the "WORST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE EVAH!!!", remember?

Anyway, a presidential election is a much different beast than a senatorial one and 2016 was different than 2018.

Yeah, I agree. I think Dems pick up IA-01 and IA-03 this year and have a real chance at beating Reynolds. Political environment matters way more than candidate quality, which is actually quite unfortunate since it leads to garbage being washed ashore by waves.

Political poetry at its best.

List of candidates/seats where Trump is contributing to the Republicans. Lots of... interesting... choices.

https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/article215768270.html

Senate seats:
PA, WY, TN, IN, ND, TX, NE, MO, NV, MN, MT, FL

So he's gonna contribute to Nebraska and Wyoming's senate races, but not Mississippi (the special in particular)? What a joke.

As usual, he is terrible with his finances.

Looks like the Kochs have finally met their match.

Also, this is a very good thing. By getting more Democrats dependent on donations from voters, rather than interests and PACs, the party should become less corrupt and independent of money.

If the Kochs want to actually help the Democrats, all they really have to do is not spend any money for Republicans. The Democratic Party doesn't need their money and may very well have the same positive effect as if they did.

MS-13 fear-mongering is like an addiction for Republicans. They always relapse.

Likely one less Democratic candidate:

‘I hate this county.’ Democratic House candidate convicted of DUI unloads on cops

https://politics.myajc.com/news/state--regional-govt--politics/hate-this-county-democratic-house-candidate-convicted-dui-unloads-cops/T9B8qfyAjX7NnI725UV2VP/

For the posters on another thread, I don't think it's a surprise that the Democratic candidate in question here is Steven Foster.  And to think, this man has a medical degree.

I have to say, I kind of agree with this guy. But I'm not running for office. This probably won't be good for him.

Piece about likely triages from the NRCC. Includes Comstock, whose race is "unwinnable", Rothfus, Young and Blum in Iowa. Yoder in Kansas is also mentioned as complaining about the lack of financial support.

Most surprising to me is Young. I knew he was somewhat vulnerable, but to have his race triaged is truly noteworthy.

I see lots of labels in "No Labels" spending, and all of the labels are Rs.

"No Labels" has always been a hack organization.
