That was during a campaign to make sure she lost the election. Mission accomplished.

I would second the comments that Trump lady's blabbing on Fox doesn't help Trump (or Manafort).

If I, at least, were Mueller, I am not sure that I would have bothered to retry the 10 hung counts. The 8 counts of which Manafort was found guilty are enough to have substantial leverage over Manafort, so why risk a bad outcome on the retrial?

But knowing now for sure the details and that there was just 1 juror blocking everything, I would now be substantially more likely to go for a retrial.

Here is a pretty good (and quite long) article going through many of the known facts. It tries to cast the publicly available information in basically the best possible light for Trump, and yet it is still really bad.

We Already Know Trump Is Betraying His Country

Elmo time?

Yeah, that would qualify as an elmo.

If he were making a deal on the DC case though, I would think in order for Manafort to agree he would want to get some leniency on his convictions from VA. Otherwise he will be (unless he is shadily pardoned) in prison for life probably.

Question to anyone who doesn't think that Trump is (probably) guilty of something serious -

What do you make of Trump's behavior with regards to the Russia investigation and how do you explain it?

To me, perhaps the strongest indication that there is some serious there there behind it all is Trump's own behavior. He repeatedly, predictably, and consistently behaves exactly how one would expect if he is guilty. For example, repeatedly attempting to obstruct the investigation at literally every turn when any rational advisor would tell him that this only makes it worse and makes him look guilty.

NOTE: This doesn't necessarily mean that Manafort is cooperating with Mueller.  It may just mean that he's chosen to avoid another trial.

Regardless, if that is true, it is worthy:

An interesting point:

Can they make a joint deal also involving the relevant states that would include state charges? I have never heard of such a thing, but if it were possible that would be the most likely way Manafort would make a deal to actually cooperate and flip on Trump. Because it doesn't do him much good to make a deal on Federal charges if he will end up spending the rest of his life in a state prison regardless of whether or not he makes a deal.

I would think the chances of Sessions/Rosenstein getting fired before the midterms just went up.

I would not be surprised if, behind the scenes, Trump is attempting to fire them right now, and his advisors and lawyers are trying to talk him out of it?

The vibe is that he might wait until the lame duck period after the midterms.

That was the vibe before. But there is increased "urgency" now, because Manafort is now giving Mueller everything he has. The clock is ticking.

So the calculation could be different.

Trump is so interested in watching this because he barely knows Manafort, and he was just a guy who worked on his campaign for a very short time, barely had any involvement. Nothing to do with Trump at all.

Posting this for all the Republicans out there so they can see some Democrats could go down as well as a result of the Mueller investigation.

Here's a good article on Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, one of many things to which Manafort pled guilty and to which it appears quite a few other people are likely to end up pleading guilty to or being found guilty of as this thing goes on.

Apparently something or other is going to happen over the next 10 days - most likely an indictment, subpoena, or something of that nature apparently stemming from Manafort's cooperation... We do not yet know exactly what, but Trump sure seems angsty recently...
