I think a lot of people don't realize the precedent this could set ...

And for McTurtle to go along with it. You would have thought that McConnell could see the "bigger picture" (and future consequences) in this charade from the Orange Clown.

When has this ever been the case?
Mitch McConnell told Harry Reid that if he used the nuclear option for judicial nominess (non-Supreme Court) that it would come back to bite the Democrats in 2013.

When Republicans got back the Senate in 2015, they blocked almost every judge that Obama nominated and then when Trump got elected they have used it to confirm a bunch of far right judges. Also, Mitch used the nuclear option for Supreme Court nominees.

...but if miraculously it does, what's to stop President Harris (2021-2029) from declaring gun violence a national emergency to confiscate all weapons, or President Ocasio-Cortez (2025-2033) from declaring lack of healthcare a national emergency and diverting funds to Medicare for All?
