KyleGordon declared for the Mideast race, which isn't happening.  He never declared for this race.
Ugh, although you can vote for him in the poll Smiley

Senate Race Heats Up

When VP BaconKing assumed his new position, his senate seat was vacated and needed to be filled.  The election for that seat is now heating up.  The JCP, the party which currently holds the seat, was the first to field a candidate in Fmr. SoFA Fritz.  Fritz, a long-time well-respect Atlasian, was quickly supported by Sen. Marokai Blue and the new president.  Not long after, Fmr. Sen. and RPP Chairman DownWithTheLeft announced that he as well would be a candidate for the seat.  Always a lightning of controversy, the former senator's campaign was met with fanfare and also jeers.  He proclaimed that he desired to take Atlasia back to the state it was in before he left, a comment that drew the ire of Sen. Afleitch who stated that the last thing we needed was DWTL's vision for Atlasia.

After these two candidates, the speculation turned to whether the DA would nominate the own candidate or coalesce between one of the two.  Predictably, neither of these happened.  Sens. Hashemite and Afleitch were quick to jump behind Fritz.  Next to speak on the matter was Sen. Franzl, who declared that he was, and still is to this point, truly undecided.  However, Sen. PurpleState, a long-time advocate of balanced government stepped up to the plate for DWTL.  He was joined by an earlier endorsement of the former senator by DA member, Gov. AndrewCT.  It is yet to seen what will happen, but most expect an eciting election.

Yeah, I never did that. Gets your facts right, atleast.
Then who are you voting for Mr. Senator, myself?  I think not

I didn't make an endorsement and I won't be needing anybody else to decide on an endorsement.
My apoligies, I thought you had stated you would not be voting for me.

RETRACTION

The paper would like to apoligize to Sen. Hashemite for stating he had endorsed Fmr. SoFA Fritz when no such record could be found.  We retract that statement

Good showing and the remaining votes look good for me, but still this is an uphill battle.  I encourage all my supporters to continue getting to the polls.

I would especially like to thank RealisticIdealist for breaking party lines to vote for me

With Special Election Over, Focus Shifts to August

After a hard fought and incredibly well participated special election, the dust is settled and the major parties have focused their attention on August.  The first question on the mind of many following the elections was whether Fmr. Sen. DWTL would seek a full-term in August after a narrow defeat.  He quashed the rumors and has since rallied behind the RPP's two candidates, Fmr. Sen. SPC and RowanBrandon.  SPC, a former senator, is no stranger to national senate elections.  He won a seat in December 2008 and came within a vote, his own vote which he invalidated, of winning a seat in April.  RowanBrandon, a newcomer to the national scene has pulled off impressive performances in one of the weakest RPP regions, the Northeast.  Smid remains the only RPP candidate to ever win an election in the region.  DWTL has praised RowanBrandon as one of the rising stars of the party.  The last party member DWTL bestowed this on his former running mate and current Sen. NCYankee.  The most prominent RPP members besides DWTL and SPC, AHDuke and PiT have also declined to run in the election.  It is expected that with a base of 20+, the RPP will win at least in the next election, possibly two.

If the RPP is to win a seat, it will have to come from somewhere, and that somewhere may be one of the DA seats.  In a shocker to most, the small but stable DA was able to capture an astounding three senate seats.  However, most feel that this number will not be kept up, especially considering the party turned out a mere nine voters in the recent special election.  The party tends to draw more outside support than others, but the recent explosion of the two major parties may very well hurt the DA.  It is yet to be known the plans of Afleitch, but Franzl and PurpleState have all but stated that will run for re-election.

Two more seats are currently held by the JCP, that of Marokai Blue and recently elected Franzl.  With a party of 30+ voters strong, the party should easily be able to hold onto both of these seats.  What is yet to seen is whether or not they will run a third candidate.  And in joke candidate news, LNF member SewerSocialist will be making a run.  It is yet to be seen whether anymore candidates will emerge, but barring any of the few big name independents making a run, it appears to be a 7 horse battle for 5 seats.

Franzl was not "recently elected", and he is not a JCP member.

I think he meant to say "Fritz".
Yeah, I was just trying to type that together real fast.  Does it honestly matter OfficePark you know what I meant

Are We at the Height of Partisanship in Atlasia?

The NWA ponders this question.  Most cannot remember a time (although maybe some can) where the endorsement of a party or affiliation with a major party was so important.  Atlasia seems to be dominated by two major parties and a strong third party force.

So the NWA asks citizens the following questions:
Is this the height of partisanship in Atlasia?
If it is, is that a good thing for the game?
Do you consider the country to have 3 major parties or 2 major parties and a strong 3rd party force?

Just some things to ponder that will hopefully conjure up debate

I think it's a little early to say that the JCP will have two holds. While I certainly hope that's the case (as both a member of the party and a strong supporter of Marokai and Fritz), and do think that we can do it, you really never know with these elections. I'd put it at 1 DA, 1 RPP, 1 JCP, 2 toss-ups, myself.
For that matter can you really count a party that had 9 voters in the special elections and is running 3 candidates to have a lock at all?  Certainly I will do my best to push either PurpleState, Franzl, or both across the finish line, but nothing is a guarantee.  I may actually be willling to switch RPP first prefs to voting for one of the two because it would be a travesty to see Afleitch as the DA member that is elected

Can all this non-sense about Daniel Adams having a primary challenger be quashed?  I am not running unless Daniel Adams does not.  I just want it known that I want to be the DS's next governor because last time I didn't make it clear and I missed out

How so Smiley
What your quote is messed up.  It would be a travesty in my mind because you harbor this incredible disdain for myself and for my party that I simply do not understand.  For someone who claims to be so in tune with conservatism, you want to bash me at any chance you get and honestly this is a game and not playing the right way has its consequences.

All that means is you hate the JCP more, which would, for once, actually make sense.  However, you did endorse the more moderate JCPer Fritz over myself.  A bad decision on your part

Yes, Fritz is indeed more moderate than you which is why I endorsed him. Besides what good would it do the Senate to have a then recently inactive poster who was removed from his seat try to get back in again at the earliest possible opportunity? The fact you lost has allowed you to actually get back into the game.
Yea, yea, we know you are such an economic conservative, but yet you refused to endorse me.  That's alright we'll see what happens in August

Well, I wonder why I never endorsed you.  You have had qualms about my personal attitudes in the game which is different than qualms over policy.  I endorsed you for president, which is more than you can say about endorsing me.

Like I said, I will do my best to pull the other 2 DA candidates over the finish line instead of you even if it includes hurting one of the RPP members.

Which confirms that is it completely personal if your prepared to sacrifice your own side for the sake of feeling good about yourself.
No, I'm prepared to sacrifice something to prove that principles still matter in this game.  You cannot continually bad mouth myself and my party and inhibit progress and think that you will be rewarded for it.
