On the republican side, Huckabee, Romney, and McCain run a tight campaign. So tight, that there is no candidate going into the convention. After the second ballot, the convention is so split and no agreement can be made, the party leaders decide on Jeb Bush and they ask him to accept the nomination. Bush agrees and comes to the convention to accept the nomination. Bush selects Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania as his running mate. All other three candidates endorse Bush.

On the democratic side, the democrats also run a close race. However, Clinton emerges on the first ballot by a very thin margin after a floor fight. Michigan and Florida delegates are not seated. This turns democratic voters off in those states. Clinton selects Tom Vilsack as her running mate.

Ralph Nader runs as a independent with Matt Gonzales as his running mate.

Discuss with maps.

The tickets are:

Jeb Bush/Tom Ridge
vs.
Hillary Clinton/Tom Vilsack
vs.
Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzales
