Yeah I think the problem is more with the ideological polarization of the two parties. There has not been an
ideological divide between the two parties this big since William Jennings Bryant's Cross of Gold speech in 1896. Unfortunately, liberalism, the ideology of compassion, is on the losing end of the stick here. I think this is more unfortunate than any political party winning over another, because political parties usually just represent interest groups, whereas ideologies represent ways of going about things.
