I finished an essay for a class yesterday, and the prof in that same class really loved my posting on the class Facebook about an Afrikaner music video that she called on me in class to discuss it (but didn't call on anybody else to discuss their postings) and then she went on about how it was excellent and so forth. But she also assumed I was actually South African, which was weird.

So I was stuck outside halfway between the city hall and campus when some massive, uber-massive rain storm fell on me and totally soaked me, from head to toe. My clothes were wet or damp for 3 hours after that, and it destroyed some papers in my bag. Pretty horrible.

I got assigned an additional 4 page analysis paper just because my coop interviews next week will overlap with class time; in addition to two 10-page papers due in the second week of June. What the hell? Is it my facking fault that my coop interviews overlap with sacred class time?

That prof is a horrible person who should go DIAF. Jesus Christ. God I hate this stupid bullsh**t.

I have 4 interviews left to go through in the next 3 days, the final four out of a record 13 interviews for my next coop internship. I had a sh**tload last week. Hopefully one of them finds me not too bad and hires me.

I eked out a coop internship for the fall by the first round, a huge weight and stress factor came off my shoulders. Extremely relieved, I can now focus on my classes again without needing to have another round of horrible interviews (I had 13 interviews in about 2 weeks, 4 were interested in me but none of them had ranked me as their top choice). I'll be working at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (I will personally kill the next person who makes the obvious "you're going to be a fisherman?" joke).

OH. MY. GOD. Best. day. ever. Awesome time on the Hill with 2 Canada Day concerts. Not only was Carly Rae Jepsen THE BEST, I also managed - no lie - to shake hands with Steve Harper and Carly Rae! That was so awesome, I was in a crowd and extended my hand towards Harper and he shook it! And then Carly Rae Jepsen ran by and I high-fived her. Awesome day.

Meh, the crowd was pretty loud, though it probably didn't live up to the hype because a vast majority (incl. me) only cared for CRJ and not for the horrible Canadian nobodies who won't make it in the US. Still a pretty great ambiance, on the whole - though some parts (when Dear Leader was telling us TEH FREEDOM IN ZE UNFREE WORLD!!!! or the GG boring us to tears) were dead. Nobody really ever cares for organizers' horrible attempts to get people to yell like nutcases.

Didn't think you were a fan of his? Tongue

Yes, I never thought I'd fangirl for Harper - I, of all persons, was yelling "Mr. Harper!" to get his attention. Just shaking hands with a head of government is pretty cool, even if he's politically horrible. Though getting to brush hands with CRJ was cooler.

My friend caught it in a pretty good picture:

Wait, you met Stephen Harper and managed to resist to the urge of punching him in the face? How did you do that? Shocked

Look at the three guys in the shades... I probably would be in some jail or labour camp in Nunavut if I had punched him in the face. Besides, I'm not the type of person who would go up to barricades only to make a scene a la "casse-toi alors pov' con" dude.

Not saying you should have, of course! I just imagined that it would be hard to control yourself in a situation like this. Grin

It's really not in my personality to be a heckler or one of those annoying nutcases who yell angrily at politicians in public. I do that online or with close acquaintances Cheesy How would you have reacted if you were in barricades and Sarkozy/Berlusconi was shaking hands? Tongue

On another note from yesterday, my friend's sister had a really unfortunate picture of Carly Rae Jepsen...

No, she's not a Nazi.

My friends and I have gotten hooked to the "Amazing Race Canada" show, if only because Vanessa (Mziray) Morgan is on it with her sister. It's rather hilarious.

I received a huge parcel in the mail today from a guy I knew (via the interwebs) in France. He sent me a whole ton of newspaper clippings for all municipal elections since 1959, a book on municipal elections since 1945 and an electoral atlas of France since 1848 which is probably the best book ever published in human history. So, it's really supremely awesome.

Also, D -8 before my trip.

Back from Vermont; feels weird to be back in the O-Town for more than like 2 days in a row. Back to work tomorrow.

My new government (Fisheries and Oceans Canada) badge looks like I work for a zoo (it has a dolphin and fish on it).

I have a night guard but I don't want to wear it since it's uncomfortable as hell and feels extremely weird.
