I'm definitely in!

I'd be interested in seeing the map, too; and I'd be happy to help out.

Give it a name Cheesy

Doesn't need to be an English speaking city either.

I quite like numerous languages etc. cities, not a fan of unilingual cities.

So... on politics... I assume that we become mayor of the arrondissement we chose automatically, unless there's contestation?

Also... how do parties work? National parties like in most European local elections or do we have ridiculous joke municipal parties/dynasties of Independents like in Canada?

I would recommend no parties, just left and right blocks.

Awesome Smiley

Anyone have any good names for my ward? Something, collegey?

College Park? I know it's a ripoff from a town in MD, but still.

I also need a name for my ward, which is Number One, downtown.

On the other hand, I don't like Champ de Chevaliers much, in fact.

I thought of Deux-Rives, or Deux-Ponts due to the river passing through my ward.

So, can I call arrondissement number one Deux-Rives/Centre? Could somebody translate that into Dutch [google doesn't take it, two is twee and centre is centrum??]. And the name in Dutch will probably be the name to be used, to be like all others.

Edit- I won't be using Riddersveld for sure, btw

Great job! How'd you do it?

btw according to Google, the first part of my ward would be Twee banken, so
Twee banken-Centrum in all.

Any ideas for the river??

Ridderveld is still there. Just because Hashemite didn't like the way it translated into French doesn't mean it's not a cool name.

The name of it is Deux-Rives, or Twee Banken. I changed the name. Big deal.

I'd support Afleitch's idea of Riddersveld for a suburb town name, though.

I think we should organize ourselves into parties or political groups. Dutch parties? Parties similar to Dutch parties? Entirely different? Independents? Just left/right groupings?

I - Twee Banken-Centrum (Deux-Rives/Centre or Two Banks-Centre)

Centrum is the heart of the city and has always been the historical centre of the city since its foundation. The river flows through the city, leaving the island of [insert name here] in the middle of the river. Almost all the buildings in the city are pre-1800s, but most were restored in the 20th century. The townhall is located in the busy Main Square, a large central plaza surrounded with shops, restaurants, government offices, and cafes.
The arrondissement, with its very high prices, is overall middle class.

[Sue me. It's the Hotel de Ville of Paris, but it looks good.]

I'd like to sit on Planning and Development and Transportation, myself.

I support's Xahar's schedule for getting on with an indirect mayoral vote.

All are taken, but TN2024 who took XIV hasn't posted the required information yet and failed to show more interest afterwards. I suppose you could take it if he doesn't come back to claim it and takes interest in this.

Is this OK?

XIV – Alexandradorp (If I can rename it)

Formerly a small farming village annexed in the 1930’s, the area was lightly suburbanized after the Second World War, providing affordable housing to upper-working class families, though most of the area remained rural until the 1980’s, when local officials allowed private developers to build some middle-class suburban tracts, in a very controversial move. The area captures a sense of petty-bourgeois conservatism and sleepiness – as some from deeper within the city note jocularly, Alexandradorp is “the place where dreams go to die”. The area sports a small immigrant community, mostly South-East Asians of the middle classes.

Notable landmarks include the Ooitmuurskerk, a small church which was known for changing hands between denominations frequently (it is currently a Catholic parish church), and the Huisen Palace, towards the southern boundary of the ward, which served until 1900 as the country estate of the Royal Family.

I see no problem.
