If you've followed the Update threads, this shouldn't be a surprise.

As one of the Update threads' biggest fans, it's a surprise to me!

You would have to go back to either the 1st or 2nd edition.  It was never mentioned in the 3rd and definitely not in the 4th so far.  You will also probably have to go back to the Tiffanye episode from 3 1/2 years ago in June-July 2009.

Interesting. I have been meaning to go back and re-watch the old seasons.

If anything porn objectifies men. Women are the stars of the show; men are just an all-but-disembodied penis.

Is it all that different, though? Isn't humiliation the central dimension of pornography?

No...

Lol. Posters on Atlas - ever the experts on what makes women feel like 'stars'

Yes, Gustaf, you clearly know the inner desires, goals and ambitions of every single female on Earth.

Clearly the female actresses are the "stars" of most porn productions, they get paid significantly more than male actors, are significantly more famous, etc. Don't be a dumb.

Good god, this thread is an abortion.

And given how exploitative the sex industry is (Do I really need to post evidence of this?), I can't possibly see it as 'freedom entertainment'. But whatever gentleman... continue your obviously metaphorical wanking.
Ok. Fair point. The sex industry is rather shafty. But nobody is forcing porn actors to perform. It's not sexual slavery, which is a seperate, much more serious problem.

Do I really need to go into an explanation questioning why these exchanges may not always be 'free' even if they are consensual (this is an important distinction)? No choice is free really.

Some people here can't seem to stand their consumer choices being criticized.
the way i like putting it is that sometimes being the sex industry can be 'a choice' in the same way using heroin is 'a choice.'

Not really as that is a physical addiction. Dealing drugs in places where drugs are the only real industry would be a better example imo.
it's not exactly a secret that drug abuse is rampant in the porn industry. not that people can't be in porn because of other dysfunctions in their lives or that your analogy doesn't apply to a lot of people.

If by "drug" you mean "mostly weed" and "rampant" you mean not much different from that of the population at large, then sure.
