Why in the world would anyone vote B, unless they enjoyed being killed or something?
Society A would have much the higher rate of gun deaths.

The term "gun deaths" includes any deaths caused by a gun, e.g., suicide, accidents, etc.; it does not necessarily have to be murder.

Obviously Society B would have more murders.  I think that Lewis was just being silly with his comment.

True.  That I didn't think of before.
Obviously I was.
Plus, "law-abiding" doesn't mean much until we know what the laws are... if self-defense is applied very liberally, ie if it's legal to shoot someone who walks up your driveway to ask you for directions because you thought he might be wanting to harm you, you still have people getting shot. Meanwhile, "everybody is a criminal" doesn't mean "everybody commits murders". "Being a criminal" is basically an attitude to life, nothing more.
So, summary - I was being silly, I was silly on purpose, but I wasn't as silly as any of the knee-jerk option A people.
